    Starc out, Neser or Hazlewood in. The concern with Hazlewood is obviously match fitness and he could break down, but his record in England is very good. With that said I expect the same team, we’re often loyal to a fault.

    Yeah, if the guys aren’t being selected then we probably aren’t playing well enough to be in contention. All the great clubs had plenty of origin reps, early 90’s Canberra, 90’s Brisbane, 00’s Storm etc. It’s nothing to worry about.

    That’s sort of what I mean by keeping it to a minimum. But I’d be very wary of using him early, we need to keep the runs in check to build the pressure, he’s giving away runs too easily. But I don’t think it’s about him being on, it’s about conditions with Starc. Dry wickets have never suited...

    If we are to win today, and we should, Starc’s bowling needs to be kept to a minimum. Preferably mostly to the lower order.

    Renshaw’s been in good red ball form in FC cricket. If there’s concerns about selecting him now I doubt you can ever select him. (he’s scored 8 FC tons in the last 18 months)

    I‘m not going to sit here and say he’s a star, but he’s better than Harris. He played well in NZ as an opener in the most similar conditions to England as possible. Harris has the worst average of any opener in Australian history with 20+ innings. He’s dog shit

    Yeah but we’re faced with a choice in 8 tests anyway, so who’d you play? Also Warner’s record in England is terrible, there’s no point just continuing with him if he hasn’t done anything after the 2nd ashes test.

    4 innings, not tests. 3 of those in difficult conditions in India. He then went to NZ and scored a stack of runs as an opener.

    Warner is retiring, so we have to give someone a go. I’d be happy to see Bancroft get another shot as well before Harris. Obviously the ace in the hole is Pucovski but who the hell knows what happens with him. I tend to think he should play middle order if he ever gets back.

    If Warner is dumped I’d prefer to give Renshaw another go, just don’t think Harris is ever going to be cut out for international cricket.

    This is his first century away from home, so I don’t blame anyone for being skeptical. He’s been stuffed around a bit by the selectors as well. India would be kicking themselves not picking Ashwin, he wouldn’t been perfect to bowl to Head.
