The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

A few pages ago, someone posted an image of Bayern Munich's home ground, Allianz Arena. Something like that would be nice.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Allianz stadium got knocked down, 30 years after it was built. It might happen with Accor at a similar age.

    NRLW TV ratings killing AFLW

Ok, here is a draft on how to structure an eventual 18 NRLW comp. If NRLW was to become a good standard 18 team comp, then you could commence it on the first game of men's Origin, and stop the NRL entirely. We won't have the farcical situation of players missing club games due to origin and it...

..but league should be merging & cutting teams right?!

I don't think cutting or merging teams is the answer right now or in the future, otherwise you'll be gifting that vacent spot to the AFL. Maximizing revenue from broadcaster deals is the way to go. Revenue could go towards grassroots, buy an asset and look towards expansion. But you need...

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

I wasn't proposing anything. Just hypothetical

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

I have been arguing consistently on the stadium thread that the NRL does need at least a couple of suburban grounds. Having all nine teams play out Accor, Commbank and Allianz wouldnt work because some of the teams are spread out.

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

It certainly helped them attracting attendances with many of their teams closely bunched together. Thats why centralised stadiums works for aerial ping pong in Melbourne. In the NRL, hypothetically, if Newtown and Norths were still in the comp, then there home ground could've been Allianz, due...

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

If PVL is forced out, then within the commission, I'd pick either Dr. Gary Weiss or Tony McGrath as chairman. Both have business experience. And maybe Greg Foran could replace PVL in the commission.

Didn't realize the Dally M's were on. It does lose presence and prestige by being locked away behind a paywall.

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

There are smart people on the commission. They will recognize a spin merchant. PVL might have got away with it previously due to the circumstances of a pandemic. But after the AFL announcement of their deal, I'm sure other commissioners would like to get more involved next time so that they can...

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

Again, why is it down to V'landys? Where is Abdo? Where is the rest of the commission.? I think the AFL chairman also played key role and it wasn't down to just Gil. There's no need to do anything official right now, other than just talk to other networks and providers.

It It's definitely not $499 million. Over $400 million could mean $410, $420 or $430 million.

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

I think News Ltd deep down know that if an opportunity presents itself elsewhere, then the commission would definitely like the NRL to leave Fox. As you illustrated in your post, there's been too much baggage between News Ltd and the NRL.. Effectively what did happen when News owned the...

    2022 NRL ratings

To be fair to Paramount Plus, they have only been around for just over 12 months. They are still a fledgling service. For the NRL, we are talking about 2028. Whilst the AFL were looking at 2025.

    2022 NRL ratings

It's frustrating to see the sport fare pretty well in the ratings and it has so much content to sell. But we still have boneheads in charge. Media landscape and technology is changing rapidly, and the NRL can really benefit greatly financially.
