    Mahoney was also injured in 2 of the past 3 seasons. We were lucky in 2020 that the season was postponed so that Reed could recover and not miss any time.

    Who's excited for Yates? He's turning 23 and yet to crack a starting spot even in reserve grade. He could be a late bloomer, he works hard and with time could be a solid back-up or bench option but that's probably his ceiling. You need to pump the brakes on players you haven't seen much/any of.

    We're getting players ready for round 1. Since he won't be there he'll get minimal minutes in this game. Matterson is easily still in our best 17 regardless of his decision.

    Yates is not Top 30 nor is he Development 4. If he plays this week and shows again he's not a liability in defence that may change.

    If they were 18-19 with no weaknesses in their game they'd be playing first grade already. First grade players don't often fix weaknesses during the season. Conditioning, positioning and whatnot will be improved over the off-season.
