Undoubtedly. May as well make everybody pay a licence fee.

There are only a few that will be winning comps from now on. The NRL have a few choices. Remove the salary cap completely and let teams die of natural attrition or demote several to NSW Cup.

There are multiple teams in this competition who won’t go close to winning a competition in any of our lifetimes, yet we want to add more clubs who won’t win anything in our lifetime. Hopefully this means we pull the brakes on everything. We should be demoting a few sides to NSW Cup in reality

Well if you don’t want to kill them, relegate them. Have a promotion/relegation system if you don’t want to kill them. There is no point for more than half the teams in the competition. You can replace them with areas that have the commercial strength etc to be competitive or win.

The Raiders are a waste in a first grade competition and so are many sides in reality. Ideally you would make it a 10 team first grade competition if you were interested in the quality of the competition and service fans who could one day potentially see their team have success (personally I...

If you want to get rid of the bye, kill off a side. There are a fair few that you could or should get rid of; most definitely including mine.

    18th club, whose next?

Maybe they are coming to the realisation that there is not enough talent in the competition for 20 teams

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

Again I am not a massive fan of a draft per se but it shows that the ARLC are at least aware of the issue Read what you want to read

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

It’s simple - a salary cap doesn’t work in isolation and even more so if you allow third parties to get involved Interesting part of a recent article “The NRL has also floated the introduction of a conference system and a draft. It also has ambitions to expand the NRLW competition and boost...

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

They will need to do something The NRL has also floated the introduction of a conference system and a draft. It also has ambitions to expand the NRLW competition and boost the profile of the Pacific Championships. There’s also the Las Vegas play – a move designed to create more value for an...

New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

Yeah it has been strong for a while. As the report indicates, half of Australia’s exports come from WA. We are blessed with the amount of resources we have, so that is definitely not NZ’s fault. I’d love another team in NZ (because heck your country is so spectacularly beautiful and it’s...

    18th club, whose next?

I’m guessing you don’t follow the MLB and NBA much MugaB. Look I get where you are coming from with the Panthers and all but seriously as a neutral fan or somebody who hasn’t got skin in a particular match here or there and who just wants to watch a contest, the competition can’t be strong in...

Nrl plans for a 20 team comp

Whilst I was hesitant about the viability of a 20 team competition previously, it would be downright negligence to do it now. Unless the ARLC completely revolutionise the player market system, there will be some absolutely unwatchable games.

    Please, anyone else in 2021

Yeah and Boston have only just started another great side 20-30 years after their last one. As soon as Bird retirex they had to go back to the beginning. Chicago haven’t sniffed a comp since Jordan. It’s cyclical and that’s my point. That doesn’t mean that it gets shared around but it does mean...

    Please, anyone else in 2021

    1. That’s very very arguably. 2. Yeah and changed the whole game to stop them from winning more. Funny that. 3. I can’t answer the question and even if I could it’s a useless comparison in any case. The NRL isn’t soccer in Europe. We are in a highly competitive market and they aren’t.
