    I actually think Bennett bought Scott to the club to add some steel to the club, not necessarily as an attacker but rather to toughen up the pack, on the field and off it. We currently have a crop of pussy cats, can you imagine the Chief or BK accepting meekly what happened to KOD yesterday...

    RABK, don't doubt that for a minute but how f**ked up is our cap when we are bursting at the seams and the team is so ordinary. I reckon that Lewis would love Newcastle and the ethos of the place but I just can't see it happening unless we are sitting on some major untapped 3rd party sponsorships.

    If the NRL don't nip this in the bud quickly then I await the day when a star player is taken out of a big game by an "accidental" head clash. At a minimum it should have been a penalty as KOD's head was attacked.

    Pipe dream nothing more, seems our cap is bursting with the team of quality we have now................. Does however make you wonder exactly how some clubs do it, Bulldogs have been adding players constantly and yet they are in the market for more.

    Its about enthusiasm and commitment, continuing to push up 9 times out of 10 for no result but ready for when the pass is made. We just aren't that committed.

    Let's not get too misty eyed about last year, we came 8 th and were pumped in the first week. All that on the back of a better run with injuries than this year. We are a team that likes things running our way, the first sign of adversity and we fold.

    Proves my theory, two wingers and a bloke who didn't make his name at our club but rather the Sharks. Paterson was all promise and little else, he fights for a bench spot at the Cows. The Hunter nursery is a myth at moment.

    I think that it's a combination of two things, firstly being a succesful player in Newcastle means you really are feted whether you perform or not, being a local is a free pass to a life of easy money, slaps on the back and positive press. Let me offer two examples to support the first point...

    We get belted because the forwards don't want to get physical and rip in. They sit back and wait, get bashed and then give up. They have a tendency to just roll over when things get a little tough, it's been like that for 5 or 6 years, it mental softness. Manly will absolutely kill us next...

    Its not Mullens fault but his performance is emblematic of the teams efforts, one good game a month and as one of the teams leaders, more is expected of him. His inability to play percentage football and build pressure through effective kicking just makes its harder to win games.

    Yep, I think he's in for a bit of a shock next time around, Bennett would be expecting more from a bloke with over 150 games under his belt. I am amazed at how bad his short kicking game is, you'd think that after practicing it daily for 10 years you'd get better at something.

    That's the kicker in all this, Mullen has played more than 10 times as many games as Reynolds but there is no comparison in composure and execution.

    RABK That's great if it's correct, I just don't think Folau is worth the sort of coin he'd be expecting. Frankly I'd much prefer Gagai get a long term deal first because the kid looks like a keeper.
