    I think he will retire this year. I think he'd be the first to admit he's prob played one season too many. He will go down as one of the clubs greats, I for one wish he does retire, and doesn't leave us with the impression that he hung on too long (Robbie O')

    I'm being proactive, I'm suggesting Kidley is not captain material, nothing reactive about it, I see the captaincy as an issue. I would certainly see the current crop taking more notice of a Harragon, or Butterfield than Kurt!

    Not questioning his commitment at all Karma, but I really don't see him having any influence over the players at all, he leads by example but nobody is following him.

    I honestly believe both Kidley, and Mullen to a lesser extent are taking the recent performances personally, as if they are to blame (both look like they have the world on their shoulders)

    Mullen would be a possibilty, not sure if he would be much different to Kids though. Roops suggests House in another thread. Maca is a Cross fan, but he'd actually have to get on the field first. ;-) I came up with Simmo, but in reality I doubt he'll play next year, I think he has gone backwards...

    Exactly the point I was trying to make. If they followed his example we'd be world beaters, but that's not what captaincy is about, as you say you need a leader of men, someone everyone wants to win for, Kids isn't that IMO. It's a good idea for a thread perverse, you'll get some discussion...

    Probably get shot down in flames for this but I don't think Kidley is the right guy to captain the team. I get the impression that when push comes to shove and things aren't going well nobody takes any notice of him. I think we need an old head as captain, that probably means Simmo or Doogs...

    2KO said a while ago that Brett Keeble (local league writer for the Newcastle Herald) was on the job finding out if there's anything in it. Keeble did say that Noyce and DeGoise are friends, and the meeting (if it took place) could be quite innocent.
