    Rumoured & Confirmed Signings - Part 5

I tend to agree an experienced prop who offers a bit of impact is probably our biggest need. I think Henry, Leota, Sorro and Smith will be decent but past that we’ll have a very raw Patea or an increasingly past it Eisenhuth. I wouldn’t hate TPJ for a year to plug a gap. Ivan has got the best...

    Round 20 v Dolphins

While we've been pretty lucky with injuries in the past 4 years, we've copped it a bit this year and its forced some guys into the side which we probably wouldn't have used in previous years. While Luai and Fish are huge outs, the balance of the top 18 or so and depth looks like it should be far...

    Round 21 v Dragons

It's definitely worth a shot to get Izack going but I have no idea how comfortable Casey is on the right. He's adapted to Flegg/Cup/NRL lightning quick so I'd be surprised if he didn't nail it. Can't wait to see Luai and Cleary combine. Haven't had those two together and in form in a couple...

    Round 20 v Dolphins

Jeez McLean is going to be a monster with an off season or two under the belt. He looks like a 100 gamer already. We do have the huge right edge issue but as others have said, most of the first 17 are starting to really hit form. Garner/Martin/Sorro in will be huge for the balance of the side...

    Round 20 v Dolphins

Seems weird they’d give Iongi the start now when Schneider/Cole have been the first drop in the halves all year and Laurie the fullback. I’m all for it, maybe having Nath in the side has given Cleary the confidence in that particular spine set up he hasn’t had otherwise. Kicking game in particular.

    Other games 2024

Roosters could be next. Decent shot at making it this year in a pretty weak field and have a heap of outs next season. Their pack should be too good for them to be out of the 8 but it would be enjoyable.

    Round 18 v Broncos

I think both can be right. To'o isn't doing anything different, but the fact that his metreage (as just one attribute he excels in) is consistently such a significant level above anyone in history means he has in fact changed the position and how teams gameplan. There have sporadically been...

    Round 18 v Broncos

Was Turuva injured or dropped for this one? I’d be keen to see Tago given a couple weeks defending between To’o and Cleary after the bye with Alamoti and Cole/Laurie on the other side. If Tago doesn’t improve with those guys and Cole/Laurie look good we need to pull the trigger on dumping Tago.

    Rumoured & Confirmed Signings - Part 5

Cleary is a defence first coach and Laurie will be a liability in the line. He’s deputised Edwards admirably but even in those couple games, he did not organise our defence nearly as well as Dyl. Great bloke and love him as a back up or option off the bench to bring some spark (hopefully more...

    Rumoured & Confirmed Signings - Part 5

Not sure he’s the answer but D Saifiti sounds like he’ll be shopped with the Knights paying some freight. At $500K or so could be interesting while Henry and Patea season.

    Rd. 17 v Cowboys

Dud game, looked completely lost without Cleary/Luai/Edwards. Oh well, we suck in the rain and we have just lost too much talent from that second tier of players to deal without our best 5 or so. Agree with others the lack of real edges did not help. Having Ice, Martin, Garner and Sorenson as...

    Rumoured & Confirmed Signings - Part 5

They definitely fielded a Rugby League team back then.

    Rumoured & Confirmed Signings - Part 5

Peachey was pretty reasonable last year. No longer a game breaker of course but he did his job, that edge was tight defensively despite centre, edge forward and half being a rotating door and he was part of that. This year appears to be one too many but he's had a solid career that maybe didn't...

    Rumoured & Confirmed Signings - Part 5

Watching the Dogs last start against the Eels they had plenty of time on their try line and and they defended for one another and they had plenty of tries butchered or unluckily called back and they just kept coming. Results aside, the basic indicators of good attitude and culture are really...

    Rd. 15 v Knights

I'd certainly be starting Garner for the moment, he has gone from being a serviceable, reliable workhorse to starting to find his lines and get a bit more dominant with his defence, he is our best edge on form, but more suited to 17 when Martin & Sorro are patched up. Martin needs the rest more...

    Rumoured & Confirmed Signings - Part 5

Replaces Lisati this year/Peachey next year and an outside chance he is our next Garner/Hosko/Sorro/Capewell reclamation success story. Can't be too mad at it.

    Rd. 15 v Knights

Agree we need to try Tago on the left. Luai, Sorenson and To’o are very strong and will help. Fact is most teams are stronger attacking the left and the rushing style of Tago works a bit better in disrupting right side shifts while sides tend to be better at navigating a guy flying out and...

    Round 14 v Silvertails

Whole pack looked to be back on tonight which was pleasing. That stifling defence was back and we just had that extra punch in the runs and play the ball. Edge defence was trash but I don’t doubt Edwards out played a big part in that. We saw last year in the Parra game how big an impact his...

    Round 14 v Silvertails

I think that the results this series are less important than starting to turn around the putrid culture within the Blues squad that underpins the continual underperforming. I’m sure Latrell could come in and dominate a couple games. Same with Walker. They’re not going to change the longer term...

    Rumoured & Confirmed Signings - Part 5

Nathan Brown, Jordan McLean, Tepai Moeroa and Jazz Tevaga would be my targets for a 1-2 year experienced depth middle deal.
