New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

Will be interesting to see if the viewership held later in the year when the Warriors returned to usual service. I have no idea either way, maybe the residual hype from 2023 carried them through this year even when they were poor?

New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

NZRL doesn't include figures in their annual reports, but the last reported numbers were mid 20k's. Rugby is about 140k. Sporty.co.nz has most of the competition data listed by region but you sometimes need to hunt for it. Comps, teams, finals etc, but no player data. The schools participation...

New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

Who is going to switch to supporting the new team in Auckland? There's no point having a derby if there is no proper rivalry.

    Scoot Airlines

Yeah Air Asia are great, I'm pissed off with all the dickhead Kiwis who didn't fly Air Asia but flew the other airlines who lowered their prices due to Air Asia, and then Air Asia had to pull out due to lack of business. I've flown their business class (which is really just the laydown seat and...

    Scoot Airlines

WTF - do you work for Jetstar? Scoot are way better than Jetstar. In fact, all the Asian budgets are way better than the the crap shoot that is Jetstar. @Generalzod I've flown them a bunch of times and never ever had any issues. As a budget you have to pay for your bags and meals (like...

What Movies Have You Seen III

Well this has me nervous for this movie, for a James Gunn movie it looks suspiciously like a Hack Snyder movie in tone/slow mo etc. Ah well, it's just a first trailer ...

New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

Hey cuz, so I discovered the reason your old school isn't competing in league anymore is that it no longer exists. Odd you didn't just explain that in the thread the first time I asked.

    Off Season 2024/25

He's got a good double barrelled sports name.

New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

This is not so easily done. The Crusaders benefited from being a one NPC team franchise in the early days of Super and as such were able to more easily attract players and build a dynasty, the new league team will not have that same benefit in the early days. But, they should get Steve Tew on...

New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

Gob, who originated this thread, firstly claimed to be in the South Island and intending to move there to live, still not sure whether true or not, then he had a period as a multi claiming to be a South Islander. Your first post I responded to was similar in style to his type of posting, and...

New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

As odd as it seems this might be the making of him. The game is fast up there he's going to need to get fit if he wants to compete. Although, if Bennett couldn't get him into shape then I'm not sure anyone can.

New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

Sheesh bro, you were into everything, just rugby and league for me and two games of 2nd XI hockey because they were short of players, despite the fact I had no idea of the rules (as a defender I thought I could only stay behind halfway). You must have been a few years after me at Hastings as...

New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

Aranui won the national comp back in 2000 but it looks like they don't even send a team any more. You don't think I should ask the old boy of that school to see if he knows why?

I'm still not convinced it isn't him. With each post it's one step forward, then two back. ;)

They used to be one of the best league schools in the country right? What has happened to them? They don't have a team in the schools comp anymore according to Sporty.

So which school? Seems an odd thing to be cagey about.

New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

I think it's mostly women and post Covid increases - as noted previously rugby has been the same this year. In regards to the huge Otago increase that would be due to the baseline being so low to start with. Edit: From the looks of the Otago league Sporty page they're including a girls Kiwi tag...

New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

Huh? That's all the Junior teams competitions (U18 boys and girls, U15 boys and girls etc) not 1 competition. Also, you didn't say what school you and your boy went to? This link has info about the clubs and schools league...

I think we all rocked an Aertex in the Bay at some stage, even us non orchardist/farmers/Lindersfarne students.

New Zealand 2 will deal a massive blow to NZ rugby

I wasn't saying it's not a valid point, rather, like your post on this page points out for another point, it was old news. I've always agreed it's a positive, I just don't think the state of the domestic game across the country can be ignored. League being a niche sport based in the Warriors...
