I wouldn't be crowing if I were a tricolour - both teams played hopelessly tonight - Souths from minutes 1-50, Roosters for the rest. A generally poor quality game but I don't think we should expect too much in humid, early season conditions.

Rooster fans would do well to remember their side lost the second half 16-10, and Rabbits fans would do well to remember their team simply didn't show up in the first 50.

So roosters fans are supposed to forgot that for 50 minutes they witnessed their very mobile pack run rampant, some brilliant set plays and their halves dominate? It's round 1.

Why do roosters fans have to ponder over negatives? Your anti rooster dribble really is pathetic.

You're an absolute pillock of the highest order and a cancer to these forums.

Wow. I hate the Roosters as much as the next man, but how anybody can chastise Brown for what he did, well, I'm gobsmacked.

The same people who complain that all the toughness has gone out of league want to remove any sign of toughness in league?

Yes, the tackle went wrong, but it is a perfectly legitimate move and anybody who viewed the tackle impartially would absolutely have to come to that conclusion. Also, to call it a dog act is probably giving Riley Brown a bit too much credit. For it to be so, you have to make the assumption that his only intent was to injure, which would have required some thought and deliberation on his part.

It happens in every single game. Brad Fittler said "that's football", and he was right on the money. Honestly there are kids going out there playing U/10's every Sunday who must be tougher than some of you lot, because they cop it but they understand that it's all in the game.

I remember a similiar shot last year by Reni Matua, it was one of their last night games. The player was standing up and the 2 other players were holding him, his momentum stopped somewhat and Reni came in from the side and cleaned him up. All the commentators took a walk down memory lane and said how that was done in the 80s etc, what a good shot, its only cause Wing got hurt people arent saying the same about this one.

 Ouch. I'm a cancer because I have an opinion? I'm just pointing out there's not a lot of confidence to be gained from conceding three tries in the back end of a game. Their excellent first 50 meant they could afford to concede it this time, next time it may be that they aren't so lucky. They were clearly the better side for a much longer period last night and deserved the win but that 30 minutes isn't something Freddy's likely to just ignore.

I reckon it was a dog hit personally, just the way he was held and then hit but oh well sh*t happens. Sucks that he's out till RD 7.

Toughness? Lol yeah there's something real tough about making a "hit up" with someones back, really admire his courage :sarcasm:

Considering they only had one trial against Wests which was touch hands when you swap over, I thought it was a great effort. Considering they were playing a good team who was more match fit than us, they came home like a train and ran over Roosters in the last 20 minutes. Falling off tackles, dropping balls which should have been taken, is a sign of a tired side. But next week, you will see team which is fitter for the run.

You Sir, are a moron.

I bet you'd still be lying in the middle of the stadium if that happened to you.

I'll be waiting to see how Brisbane go before making a judgement on next Friday's game... there are a few questions in defence for your mob - only reason you didn't concede much in the first half is because Souths' attack was flatter than Paris Hilton's chest.

Anyone notice it took Riley brown the cat something like 60 minutes to make his 1st run aftyer the cheap shot on wing, the coward rightly got hammered.

Quite frankly I'm glad we punted his arse, have never rated him at all as a footballer

Congratulations Roosters. You were by far the better side on the night.

This Brown character has no place in our game and I hope that karma is the biggest of all bitches to the flea!

Fair comment but were you one of the 99.9% of Souths supporters who cheered the cheap shots Anasta copped in the last round of 07?

I disagree with those of you who say how wonderful the Rabbits played in the second half. The Roosters players went to sleep, game in their eyes was over at 34-4 and they turned off for the night. When the bunnies got a try, they tried to start up again but couldnt. I do believe that is a problem that Freddy will be trying to address this week but to say that the Bunnies were this wonderful side in the late second half is a joke.

As for those of you who think Brown should be cited, unless they bring in a new rule and backdate it he has nothing to answer for. Since they allowed players to offload when they look held and the ref hasnt called held, the defending side has every right to go in for a tackle, including one that unfortunately hurt Wing.

Roosters are a bunch of low cats taking that shot on Wing, while he was being tackled.

Of course that effected Souths defence in the first half.

The player in question, he ought to be cited and suspended.

It was reminiscent of Anasta's illegal grapple of Dave.

Shame Roosters Shame

Once again the Roosters have brought the game into disrepute through ugly and illegal play. They are a disgrace.

Souths will have to learn to defend better in the first half.
