That hit on Wing looked like a standing flop. He was no longer challenging in the tackle. How are players supposed to protect themselves from those sort of hits? What kind of a cheap, dirty player is Brown? Never seen him pull off a proper hit - putting his own body in harms way to pull off a shot but instead does it the cowards way. Great advertisement for the game on opening day...not.

I'm pretty sure the Roosters players that began the tackle had the ball covered. Also offloading the ball mid-tackle isn't as potentially dangerous as what Brown did.

So, with the benefit of multiple replays courtesy of your IQ, you're "pretty sure" they had the ball covered. Are you suggesting that Brown had the same opportunity to sit back in the heat of battle and watch multiple camera angles and replays to determine that even though Wing was still struggling in the tackle and making forward progress, his teammates had the ball covered 100% and the tackle was complete? Or, do you think that maybe he was well within his rights to play the whistle and assist in the tackle?

Try and be objective here: if the same thing happened but it was Mason or Anasta carrying the ball, would you not be applauding the hit? Anyone who says no is f^cking lying.

must as I don't like Mason no I wouldn't be, the shot Crocker made in last year's Grand Final on Brett Stewart much as I love Mick I hated the shot partly because I'm a Manly fan but mostly because those kinds of shots shouldn't be in the game. Even if it was done to an Eels player I wouldn't like it.

Our coach taught us that exact "tackle" in training.

He just came out and said try and hold the bloke up and let a teammate smash into hes ribs. So its not as if this isnt around in rugby league played anywhere. Its a tough sport, i dont like cheap shots but i mean its fair game if it isnt illegal.

No, but I bet Freddy isn't please with that 16 point haul Souths managed in the final 30... I know if I were a Roosters fan I wouldn't be either. Irrespective of the game being out of reach letting in three tries is dumb football.

That's Football? Get real mate, it was a dirty cheap shot and if justice prevails he'll either be cited or injured himself. Wing was tackled and the dirty thug came in late as third man and went straight for his back. Surely not even you can be that hopelessly biased you can't see the cheap shot being taken?

Can you honestly tell me you've never seen SBW come in with a shoulder charge when there's one or two others already effecting the tackle?

You're right on the other point. Wasn't the best football from the Chooks, but I'm happy to get away with a win first up after last year's debacle. Good to see more than one marker in most of the rucks.

ROOSTERS 34 SOUTHS 20

NRL officials have confirmed they will today investigate the tackle that forced South Sydney star Craig Wing from the field just eight minutes into the centenary season, his former club Sydney Roosters going on to a crushing first-night victory.

Rest of quote is:
"We will look at it because he was hurt," chief video reviewer Greg McCallum told The Saturday Daily Telegraph. "It's a matter of finding out whether there was any illegality from the elbows or knees, whether it was a case of striking."

Since neither were used I can't see a citing

Wing was held in a tackle by Braith Anasta and Anthony Tupou near his own 30-metre line when Roosters hooker Riley Brown came in with a shoulder to the Rabbitoh halfback's left upper back during the Tricolours' 34-20 win.

the Telegraph seem to think he was held.

Congratulations Roosters. You were by far the better side on the night.

This Brown character has no place in our game and I hope that karma is the biggest of all bitches to the flea!

Yes why dont we go and outlaw that tackle and we can all play Oztag? Either that or we will have 20 players suspended each week because I guarantee we will have many of those tackles this weekend.

Lets face it if Wings shoulder doesnt pop noone talks about it
