I think when you put an opposition player out of the game it's a bit more than 1 week. Elford didn't look too flash at all in the sheds and bleeding behind the eyes sounds nasty. The tackle didn't look in the high range but a player was injured, his side down a man for over three quarters of the game. Four to six weeks.

The Dragons are a good side, but really this game should have been 12-all with half an hour to play. A side will come along and take them out in September, I feel.

Poore should get at least 2 weeks. It was a bad one and there was no second tackler to help his cause either.

In all it was a pretty average match. Dragons never clicked into gear but still won comfortably. The 10-meters was pathetic all night and some of the adjudicating had me shaking my head and laughing at just how bad it was (aka Wendall and the dead ball line, the Lewis no-try).

The Panthers tried hard but had nothing and the Dragons where just too good, even though they were very average.

Wow that's a pretty open prediction, sounds like you a little sore on the result tonight.

A good win to the Dragons, although they could have played better. I feel the refs were letting the Panthers get away with slowing down the play of the ball quite a bit, which stifled the Dragons attack. Go you Dragons!!!!

Dragons were the better side, always had control, but a better team than Penrith might have troubled them tonight. Maybe the Dragons will lift in the finals.

Possibly but then it would have been a different game and the Dragons would have played differently, they will have to lift in the finals and so will every other team in the 8.

if the team is in control why do they need to really do any more than that? we can play a lot better than that but obviously last week was a pretty big game so i think a few expected a little bit of a low this week. To be honest i thought the Poore tackle was fine, the definition of a spear tackle is blurring wiith the horizontal bs that they have comeup with. The best moment of the game was when Luke Walsh went to raise his fist to Costigan and he basically got told to have a go.

I rather the dragons to play badly and win, instead of this must lose a game crap business which i cant see how it would work in thier favour.

Playing badly and winning , i would take that all the time

every team would

the only reason we are in must win areas is because of the high injury toll we have had this year.If you had ten first graders out for several weeks you would not be on the top of the table but where we are.Penrith will bounce back now we are getting these guys back. The ponys next weeks target but again it is a must win game

im not taking anything away from the panthers , i bet they would have preferred to win while playing badly instead of a lost.

The point im trying to make where it been reported a team need a lost ,
i cant understand why

when every team in the comp would rather win even though they didnt play thier best they would take a win over a lost any day

I thought the Saints were pretty ordinary last night. Put it down to last week if you will, but I thought much of it was due to the intensity of Penrith. Not having Foxtel, I don't see a lot of Penrith games, but last night really showed these boys can play great and high intensity football. If they keep this up, they should no doubt be in the finals, and anything can happen. Don't forget, Lewis first game back from a long layoff and Petro to come back.

I didn't think Soward had the best of games last night, maybe still a little sore from last week or the lack of 10 metres?? Justin Poore will be sitting on the sidelines for a couple of weeks. Thank goodness we have a substantial roster to cover him adequately. Great to see Smith back and score a couple; he will be big for us over the next few weeks. Dan Hunt, Weyman and Young all had big games.

After watching the Lewis no try several times, I believed tha ball was definitely knocked on by Penrith. You see these type of things all year (in the field of play) called a knock on, why not in the in-goal. If it had happened in the field of play, I have no doubt the ref would have called a knock on and packed a scrum.

The standard of the referreing was apalling, especially with the 10 meteres and the call on Creagh, shoulder, left one to wonder. The Dell incident was also amusing, but not if your a Penrith supporter.

A better team???

You do realise Penrith are 5th on the ladder....there aren't many sides "better" than them left in the comp.

Saints weren't good last night and still easily handled what the current 5th best team in the comp could throw at us.

We were flat after the effort against Melbourne from last week. Nothing more to it.

How long will Poore get for his tackle. It looked pretty bad but a part of that was seeing Elford spit up blood, but that was from Poores shoulder getting him as he hit the deck. 2 or 3 weeks for me!!!!

I was of the opinion that Elfords bleeding / spitting from the mouth while lying on the ground after the Poore tackle, was the result of an earlier tackle. From memory, he received a knock/ heavy tackle in one of his first touches of the ball. He was a bit dusty and stayed down on his knees while a trainer attended to him.
Appeared to be a clash that involved his head - perhaps his nose, and they had tried to wipe the blood from him earlier. If the bleeding from that incident had not stopped then surely that is where all the blood came from while lying on his back and it was pooling in his mouth.
The trauma from that earlier hit could also be responsible for the eye injury.
I don't condone Poores tackle but I felt it was a 50/50 call on that one. IMO no malice or intent.
I hope he makes a quick recovery as I wish no ill feeling towards any players......except Gallen...

He seemed to cough up a sh*tload straight after it. I was sure Poores shoulder smashed into his face as they hit the ground and thats what caused the blood. No doubt there was no intent and one of those things that happens but so are 99% of spear and high tackles. Definately deserves a stint on the sideline for a couple of weeks.

Poore will go for a couple of weeks but the depth shouldn't be a problem for Saints. No problem with the "controversial no try" ruling, seemed a clear Penrith knock on to me.

Pretty scrappy game in parts, Saints defence won it for them, they seemed blunter than usual in attack.
