Brisbane let this game slip through their fingers. I was once again disappointed in the lack of direction in this team which I put blame squarely on their halves. Brisbane should have shut this game out in that first 20 minutes after half time such was their dominance early.

Corey Norman I am not sold is their long term answer to replacing Lockyer. He dies too much with the ball in hand (plays as a natural fullback chiming in to the backline). We saw glimpses of his class (the 70th minute pass to create the overlap for Teo's try) though I am not sold he will be a career five-eight.

Whilst on the subject of the halves, Peter Wallace as a former Origin rep and recent long term signing needs to take more control of this team. The Broncos look lost when inside their opponents half and he should rightfully shoulder the majority of the blame. It's not good enough and this highly rated Broncos team in the pre-season will not live up to the hype they have if cannot stamp his authority on a game.

I said somewhere in the off-season that I'd nominate Corey Parker as the replacement for Lockyer as captain and he showed again last night why I was right. Parker is a natural leader out there for the Broncos. Thaiday is more "do as I do" and he portrays this "one of the boys" attitude. You lose / gain little I guess either way though Parker would have been the perfect choice in my opinion.

I won't comment too much on the Cowboys if only to say they improved and made the most of the opportunities. Bowen magic saved their bacon and I reserve judgement on this football team. I didn't have them as a high as some in the pre-season and I am not convinced they are a premiership threat. At best a top eight team.

Is Blaza being a knob again  Was having a blow up in the offseason because people were tipping to Ponies to come 9th or something...

Just got home from the game, and pretty shattered with the result. It's always tough to loose like that at the very end...

Congrats to the Cows, who made the most out of a very entertaining game, although still riddled with too many errors and missed tackles, especially for two teams with aspirations.

Refs were horrible for both sides, there were a few bad calls and soft penalties against us, especially in the first half, which gave the Cows a leg up and probably the game. I mean, how much doubt can you have before you rule No Try?

On the other hand, the Broncos have to take responsibility for their defense, and it was pretty bad today, with Thurston and Bowen opening us up through the middle.

Last, but not least... Beale is not a winger and any self respecting coach will target him with high balls. You can't keep him in a position he is clearly not good enough in, just because he's a quality player!

I thought the rule for benefit of the doubt had always been that it goes with the attacking team. Unless there is something blatantly obvious that means it should be disallowed, its awarded.

No surprise to see Bowen with a dog act again.

When he's not taking dives he's dropping the knees. Good player, but a dog.

Disappointing to see that knee skeepe. Was it intentional? As the King said - only one man knows.

It really bothers me when any player dives on top of a tryscorer. Why do it? There's nothing you can do to stop the try, and it's entering cheap shot territory in my opinion.

I do t know that it was intentional, but he certainly had plenty of time to pull out.

I can't say I disagree skeepe. I see no point in it either outside of potentially injuring your opponent. It's a heat of the moment decision that can potentially cause serious injury.

Better side won on the day. Was a cracker of a game despite the annoying commentary.

Corey Parker looks like he has lost a step since not getting the captaincy, the 2011 version of Parker does not open the curtain for DJ to stroll in untouched under the posts, almost as bad as Adam Blair opening the door for Jason King.

Thaiday as to be expected, heavily targeted man with the c next to his name. Personally it is a drag on him, he should be one of those onfield leaders without the c that chimes in and helps out. Cowboys scramble defense is top notch, cover very well from the inside, similar to the Broncos in the last few seasons since their defense went up.

It was a good game and the better side on the night won. Broncos didn't really turn up to play I thought while the Cowboys were on a mission to make up for last weekend. Broncos have plenty of work to do to become a top 4 side.

I'd say that's fair.
However looking at it in context with the loss last week and what sort of mentality the team usually has after that sort of loss....it's a bit more positive.

The Broncos are finding their feet still, and honestly, are at the level the Cows are starting to depart now.
Very young, don't know their roles, lost at times....plenty of talent and ethic but unsure how to apply it.

In any case I'm happy with the win because it can be built on.

alright I apologize if I offended anyone last night, I had a few to drink and probably got a bit carried away, it was just a bit of fun, not like words on the internet are ever going to taint anyone for life anyways

Brisbane let this game slip through their fingers.

They were only in it because of some awful Cowboy blunders that shouldn't have happened on both sides of halftime and a bit of luck.

The Cowboys need to learn to lead from in front and get their defence functioning for the whole 80mins. In patches they came up off their line with the same cohesion and speed that the top teams do and then scrambled with the same urgency when they got rounded.

They should be a big premiership threat.

A bit of luck?

The Cows were marched right down our end thanks to the refs. and their two tries all came off some dusty plays.

We're still finding our feet as a team, Norman in particular has a lot of room for improvement. We make the right adjustments and we're in this competition up to the scruff of our necks.

Don't have any concerns on Parker or Thaiday either. Parker had a shocker, the Parker of 2010-11 had shockers too. He'll be right. Sam just isn't a front rower and it was when he was replaced we looked lost. With Petero match-fit and McGuire ripping and tearing off the bench you'd imagine Sam will return to his much preferred position in the backrow.

I was embarrassed to lose like we did, that last try just shouldn't happen in Rugby League and it basically undid all the hard work we did. But with that said, pretty much any side would have struggled against the Cowboys tonight. Their pack was 'on' and Scott delivered an Origin like performance & players like Tamou & Sims followed accordingly. With JT in the side, they're always a threat.

Repeated penalties for offside is on the team not on the refs. And Graham and Bowen's mistakes on either side of halftime were a massive leg up.

Corey Parker had a shocker? Really? That 140+m, 33 tackles & 10pts defines the word "shocker"? Parker was close to Brisbane's best.

Some are harsh judges.

Those penalties could have honestly been called at any time. Some of them, like the one against McGuire were just plain pedantic.
