There are going to be a lot of major talking points from this match.

The penalty try, the forward pass, the desperate try from Jennings.

Like last year, the biting incident was the major talking point, I wonder which one will be from tonight's match.

Well done to the Roosters, best team all year, under a good coach Robinson who's got a good future ahead of him.

f**k this forum has become embarrassing

I'm imagining someone unfamiliar with the game reading through this thread and trying to get an understanding of what happened last night. It's like posters here live in a parallel universe.

Well deserved win by the Roosters. Not sure where people are getting the refs being on the Roosters side from? You must spend too much time listening to brain dead commentators.

Don't think there were any controversial calls in the game myself. The Lyon penalty try was fair, and the supposed forward passes in the lead up to the Roosters try weren't forward in the least. Obviously you all don't know what a forward pass is.

A shame that another great game of rugby league has been dirtied by sensationalist bullshit from dickhead commentators and whinging fans.

Couple of dubious calls no doubt, but none of them had any relevance on the result of the game. A great Manly side beaten by a better Roosters side.

Ps. Pmsl at people talking about a JWH headbutt. Was no more a headbutt than tapping somebody on the head or shoulder is a 'slap'. Stop crying you soft merkins.

Jennings was awesome too. Lol at Gould.

Sod this 'out of the hands crap just call a ball forward if it travels forward...

You do realise if every ball that travelled forward was called as forward that players wouldn't be able to throw passes while moving, because just about all of them travel forward?

It would change the dynamics of the game completely. Effectively you'd have everyone standing still, it would be like crossing rugby league with netball.

Some of you are complete morons

IF there was a controversial call in the game, and there really wasn't, it would be the penalty try for Lyon, who in fairness milked the situation.

Nothing controversial about any of the passes leading to Roosters try's, unless you're blind or scientifically illiterate.

My overall impression was that the Roosters got a better deal with some of the calls, but also that Manly got away with quite a lot in the tackle. That said, it was an excellent, tense game which i thoroughly enjoyed.

There's also a delightful irony in people shrieking about all the media attention SBW gets but then picking over every little thing he does looking for things to bag him about. And while he had a relatively shocking first half, he made up for it with two plays which undoubtedly changed the game. Much like the Stewart brothers last week, who started the game like they were deliberately trying to lose but then came right and bossed it.

Great game. Well done both teams and Congrats Roosters.

Yep

Credit to Manly for the way they smashed the Roosters when the Roosters were coming out of their own end, but it's amazing an off-side or holding down in the tackle penalty was never called. The frustrating thing is the penalties only come when a bloke drops the ball.

Deadset half the posts about the Clive Churchill have been about how absolutely vital it was that SBW didn't get it. Ultimately, he played a crucial role in both of the last two tries by creating something from nothing. In a tightly contested grand final very few players on the field (maybe only DCE and Maloney) did anything as noteworthy in terms of creating points (for their own team, that is). I doubt SBW will be too fussed, but shit, people have won CC Medals for less.

Who's dick is this guy sucking fmd

He was good in the finals series but was hardly motm in this game

And who was from Roosters? No player from roosters stood out above DCE for me. Maybe Maloney but still cherry had a great game

I was actually arguing in favour of it not being called forward under the modern interpretations.

However, the interpretation has changed over the years. You only have to watch pre-SL matches to realise how deep attacks stood. You could rule that way, there'd probably just have to be a cleaning up of the ruck at the same time to stop defences completely strangling games out. As it is, passing 'flat' is about the only way to make metres in modern RL...

We've done a lot of that this year. We've shown that once we gain a bit of momentum we can post points really quick. Great game and great year. Cheers to Manly for an awesome match. Admittedly we may have gotten the rub of the green on some 50/50 calls, but credit to Manly fans for not whinging like some of the 'neutral' supporters on here..

We're not whinging - we're planning our revenge...

Nah despite some b-grade reffing the c**ks are deserved winners, having won the minor premiership and coming back from that deficit to beat Manly. We should never have let em back in the game, but we did, and we paid the price.

Enjoy the victory c**k fans, and we'll see u next year ;)

Yeh a few dubious 50/50s, but nothing major that affected the end result.

I watched the replay last night and honestly don't think it should have been a penalty try. I believe it should have been a Manly penalty with Aubo in the sin bin.

Maloney's pass was touch and go. It looked worse as he stopped when he passed it.

Each call evened out.

The best team won the night.
The best team all year won, which is what I like to see. The new finals system at last rewards consistency for the top 4 teams.
For a team to hold 6 opposition teams scoreless, be Minor Premiers and beat their GF opponents 4 times in the same season, means there can be no doubt, the Roosters are deserved champions.

Manly were great and their GF experience showed.

A truly great GF!

Penalty roosters for JWH headbutt
Jorge Taufua didn't play at it
Early knock on called knock back
7-2 penalty count for as the worst offending team of the year

Roosters were the best team of the year but not on the night and still got the result, they deserved the premiers tag,but Manly deserved a fair set of officials which was not forthcoming

Hopefully we get a square up (see rigged,I'm looking at you foundation clubs) premiership next year
