England were the better team. However, they bombed a few opportunities.

They do also have the better point difference, could still make it.
The ref helped England if anything. The forward passes he let them get away with were ridiculous
This is true. Cameron Smith would be proud of the English effort in that department.

I couldn't care less, I don't support England at international level but when you've got Australia appointing their own referees and then those referees inevitably come up with calls like that it just makes a mockery of the whole thing. You could tell the VR's mindset when he played it at full speed, 'oh it didn't look like a try there so it probably wasn't' when it was deadset obvious from the numerous slow-motion replays, including one conclusive angle which he only looked at once. f**king embarrassing for your country.

Master stroke to get an australian referee . How fcking stupid ate England for agreeing to it?
Not content with giving them one opportunity to score with a soft penalty on half way he decided that seeing as they stuffed it he'd give them another go.

Sheens is saved by the ref.
Have a f**king sook why don't you.

The video referee made that final call and got it correct. Just as he did the two other times that favored England.

England could have easily had their try disallowed for the DCE being taken out, and Inglis could have easily had his try awarded. But the video referee made the correct decision in all cases. If there was any bias trying to get Australia to win, there would have been potentially 12 points worth of decisions in our favour before that last call.

England had plenty of wrong calls go in their favour. Same as every single game. Referee doesn't get them all right, but they didn't favour either team. I saw plenty of calls go against Australia. BUt they evened themselves out.

England should blame their forward pack for not being able to finish off the worst pack Australia has ever fielded. The fact that a halfback replaced a front rower and changed momentum is the reason that England lost.

I've seen worse groundings given than Hall's at the end, but I don't reckon that's a try.

Hunt made a real difference when coming on.

And whoever gave Smith motm didn't watch the game, Bird was head and shoulders above anyone else.

Ball on ground, finger puts downward pressure on it. How can that not be a try?
His finger brushed it. No pressure at all. In slow motion his finger is on it in one frame. He didn't even think he had grounded it.

It's not a try because he brushed the ball for a hundredth of a second before it went dead. No control. No downward pressure. Just a knock-on.

seems some people here just don't like him.
He had an enormous game and was close to the best out there.

Mate if props aren't making line breaks and creating line break assists they're just shit. Props who charge into the defence and make clutch tackles are f**king useless.

Why did his finger bend back if there was no pressure?

Tough luck for the Poms.

They settled into the game quicker and were more willing to do whatever it takes to win but once Australia found their rhytmn, they were always going to be difficult to stop.

Hall was an easy stand out but I thought James Graham and his delayed passing game was lethal.

As for the final video referee decision - he grazed it as it was bouncing up. It would have gone up as No Try and as a result, there was little basis to award it.

Happy to see Hunt do well on debut. Thought he got dealt a tough hand by Sheens but he more than made the most of it.

Now we just need some of these media germs who quite frankly seem more interested in mouthing a gobby rather than support rugby league to stop rubbishing the need for international rugby league. I heard Ray Warren the other day ridiculing the comp saying we should have international rugby league tournaments only once every two years. Give it up son, they have to play a maximum of 4 games. Look how it used to be, particularly in England. You could play 40 odd games in a year.

Instead of relying on a flukey try to win it in the last minute,.. maybe the Poms could have played better in the 2nd Half not to get beaten by Australia C
England's performance is irrelevant here. The fact is that Australia forced the appointment of their own officials despite the fact that there were supposed to be neutral referees, and then those officials denied a clear try in the last minute of the game that would have seen Australia lose the match. This is the same ARL BTW that will steal all of Samoa's players for next year's Australian squad, except there won't be any matches next year because they couldn't be bothered to organize a proper international calendar.

Do you understand why players like SBW, Burgess etc want to leave the sport?
