Eh Luke looked slow off the mark and between the ears to me

I think he will be under a lot of pressure from Cameron McInnes this year

IMO Luke's problem tonight was he kept running was he kept running into the markers looking for a penalty, rather than just taking advantage of the meters.

I guess we'll see, but I think he'll carve up more than usual this season.

I thought Luke's inability to see beyond the first runner, especially when attacking the line was one of the reasons why Souths didn't kick clear a lot sooner.

Very dominant display

Luke's tunnell vision has always been his weakness. Has to learn that just because there's loose markers, you have to forget everything else around you.

That's what I mean slow between the ears. Occasionally he plays without looking for the penalty and that is when he is at his best

Did anyone think that the Roosters struggled to adjust to the new faster speed of the ruck?

The number of faster play the balls led to lots more missed tackles by the Roosters

Rule changes rarely benefit Premiers

These rules don't suit 'big' packs imo. Less wrestling, less chance for the fat ones to lie around the ruck. Probably need another edge backrower imo.

I think Roosters just played shit.

But I do think it's tailor made for Luke's game. If 50uff$ can't win this season, they never will.

Not really.

Luke running too much reduces the opportunities that exist out wide.

Its was a regular occurrence pre-2013.

I think you all missed the best bit.

How good did Dylan Walker look. Didn't miss a trick. Set up two or three tries and looked dangerous everytime he ran the ball.

I think Keary will be hard pressed to dislodge him.

Keary is class, if you can't find a place for him at Five-Eighth, there's about 10 other clubs that will.

i am so surprised that 30-15 favoured the premiers to win this. i thought souths were specials just like the tigers are on sunday. saints without dugan = worst team in the nrl.

Keary looked even better in the trials IMO

The team will be quite potent with both in the side

Injury seems to be coming along better than expected too. The round 16 return has been reduced to round 10-13

Was good but Keary is a more natural playmaker. Can easily shift Walker into the centres. Not as if Goodwin/Champion are fantastic there, and it is your weak area.

The team is so much better balanced with Sutton at lock at Walker/Keary at fiveeighth.

It makes our forward pack less one paced and more dynamic. And it provides better balance in our halves.

Because it's round one. Better yet, this was the very first game. What if 4 other teams this week are going to put in better performances than South Sydney tonight? It's round one so by your logic, they'll do better than the Rabbits due to their performances. But that doesn't matter because they're not South Sydney, right?

What if the rabbits get whooped next week? Injuries still to pile on? You simply can't sit there and be so confident when so much can happen. That's why you're copping it.

I mean it's my expectation in terms of what we need to acheive for me to consider the year a success. If we crash out in a prelim for the 3rd year in a row the year will be a failure. If we go backwards the year will be a huge failure. That makes it an easy sum. Grand final or fail.

Yeah Kearys passing game will be better for Souths.

Walker is a runner and he had no link play with inglis at all tonight, GI had to go right to find it. And with Reynolds looking like he is going to pass early this year that will suit walker at center on the right edge.

Will say this, Sutton needs to get a bit fitter imo. Probably with South's big boppers, he can't afford to get a spell most weeks.

We will see, he put in a ton of defence but not his usual meters and minutes. Will likely just need time to adjust.
