Was a great game to open the season. Both sides looked real aggressive in defence, but both also looked a little flat in attack (Before Souths ran away with it at the end). I expect both of them to be up there come September.

I think all this talk of back to back premiers has been grossly exaggerated. The Roosters have been pretty insipid, even for Round 1. SBW has had a shocker.

Any talk about the performances of teams before a season starts is dumb

Look at some of the previous years favourites that have absolutely tanked
Cowboys, Eels, Tigers, Warriors etc

It should also be noted that the Roosters usually fail to follow up a good season with another good season

Having said that - criticising the Roosters does take away from South's performance. I thought that Souths looked very good for long periods.

Yes , roosters lost first round last year . The excuse given last year was that the team had many new team members and the team would need time to come together.

There is NO excuse this year , except that Roosters think being fortunate to win the GF last year means a walk up start in 2014.

Souths will be hungry to make the GF in 2014 , whilst the Roosters will be BBQing .:lol:
