Junior partner in a joint venture.

North Sydney would remain and still have control of their juniors and NSW Cup side.

All major decisions to do with the NRL side will come from the Perth side as the major stake holder.

Just like St George did with their merger you write in clauses that protect the name and colours of the team to protect the Bear's History.
St George did WHAT ?

There is no gotcha at all. It is about showing how dumb or naive to think it works without an East Coast presence.

Say the reports about then being next in is correct.

They go to this years schoolboy carnival to sign kids like every club does. What is going to give them the best chance to actually get kids?

'We want to sign you, do you mind leaving family and friends and finishing school in Perth'

Or

'we want to sign you, You won't have to come over yet. Stay here play with our team here ( insert team)

That is why a partnership not feeder team is needed
Why does a "partnership" change anything in this regard though? Why would a feeder team be any different?

Who says their pathways are going to be in Perth?

EVERY SINGLE new NRL team will need a presence in QLD and/or NSW, because unfortunately we haven't been able to grow the sport outside these two areas.

Perth isn't unique in that sense.

The Storm are doing now what they should have done 25 years ago. Building pathways. I’ve said this consistently. Your opposition to Perth is typical east coast denial. It’s views like yours that will always argue for a small game. There is nothing stopping a feeder arrangement into Perth that does not require a joint venture other than your own biased view. Perth is a huge win for the game and they should be team 18. Melbournes pathways are a result of the nrl finally understanding that they matter and they are paying dividends. A Perth team will feed off those lessons and will be self sufficient far quicker as a result. And the government is backing them 100% I’m happy never to agree with you about this because you have a narrow vision and you are wrong.
It won’t happen overnight but it will happen

in the meantime what are they supposed to do ?

Feck me you are such a typical east coast know all. Do you really think the people of Perth want a joint venture? This is standard bs from the lily livered cowards who have no confidence in our great game. Never change mate.

Perth could fix Fridays - 7.30pm game on the east coast (Ch9) followed by a 9.30pm game from Perth (Fox). Would be better for both crowds and ratings.
3 games on Friday night could be a bit much

Sunday 630 pm eastern time is the perfect time slot for the club and tv and other clubs would love them to take that time slot

Because a feeder arrangement Perth would no say over how their player is developed. Say a kid bulks up and they want him in the backrow, They have no say over where that guy plays.

Yes every new team will need a presence. I have the same doubts over any of the new teams ability to be decent and not be fighting each other for spoons.

Which is why them not falling behind the other teams is key

Brisbane Melbourne are the outlier when it comes to new clubs. They were the only 2 teams to have success in short time frames.

Brisbane because they basically got three quarters of the Queensland team. Melbourne because they got the remnants of other clubs post super league war.

I expect Perth to struggle regardless how their lower grades and juniors are assembled.

In this case the senior partner got the name and identity. In the Perth case the junior partner would get that.
Ask magpie fans how they feel about wests tigers, despite being the senior partner.

That's not how it works, and you don't need some form of legal ownership arrangements, to make it work.
