what thread? Show me a link that states that Catalans Dragon have a different home grown quota to other SL clubs, I know you cant, because they dont.

The 18th NRL club will be in Queensland and the 19th will be NZ.2 and the 20th will be in WA. I'm not saying i agree with it, but it will happen

If they have any plans for a club in Perth it will be now whilst we have such a supportive WA Govt. Who knows how long they will be in for.

if its true just show us the link to it. I might be wrong and happy to concede if you can show some proof? To the best of my knowledge Catalans dragons have exactly the same quota requirements as every SL club. A quick look through their squad shows a reasonable number of English and overseas players, more than the allowed 7 non fed trained players in the quota. That would suggest they do not have to have French trained players as Fed trained players.

When’s the next TV deal and will the NRL use the 18th team as leverage for a bigger payday?

For me the 18th team needs to be Perth as I just don’t see any potential financial backers on the horizon for NZ2.

If the Dolphins bump along at the bottom of the table for the next few seasons it will be hard to argue that the NRL got its expansion strategy right. If they do ok then this is rubbish. Time will tell.

new deal kicks in 2028. Excpect they’ll start negotiations end of ‘25 early ‘26

and yes the sale of a ninth game slot should be a major uplifter in tv rights value

1. are they competitive on the field
2. are they succesful off field in terms of financial viability and fan appeal
3. have they helped the game grow, financially and in interest levels
