His point was an excellent one

nrl is only missing Adelaide and Perth whilst has nth qld Newcastle Wollongong csnberra and Auckland

Very nfl like

No, it isn’t. Would the NFL or any other major sport in USA, Europe or Asia not have a team in their 4th or 5th biggest metro market. Would they continually put teams in the same area or areas. They wouldn’t if given the choice because it is dumb. It is limiting by definition - you are essentially selling your product to less people.

The only possible scenario where this would eventuate would be in a country where there is only one or two major markets or there is only one market, so a country like Singapore or Qatar or something.

The US has populations 11 times higher than our competition, they can put clubs wherever they want, we are a very small market in terms of worldview, our 2 biggest cities are Sydney and Melbourne, and both are littered with the same style competition spread, the bulk in each city

Fumbleball (sigh - I hate talking about that game) has a team in every metro market in the country. Yes they have a litany of teams in Melbourne (btw I am not arguing about cutting teams from Sydney) but that circumstance hasn’t prevented them doing the former. There is a reason why that is a thing or an ideal

Now, before anybody suggests that I’m suggesting a Perth or Adelaide team is our coup de grace, I’m not. I’m just suggesting that it is weird that a sport like ours doesn’t want to maximise its earning potential.

Also, the fact we are the most urban dense population in the world, means that it makes even less sense to not market your product to the urban populations of this country.

Australia’s population is more centred than americas in a few major cities

That’s what I said in my previous post. It also makes less sense by that token, not more, to not have a team or teams in every major metro market.
Afl has a similar geographic spread that leaves places out

also how many teams in Melbourne ? Similar

Incorrect, this competition has not brought in a another sydney side since penrith, it has only ever expanded (souths return doesn't count)

Your talking as if it will never go back to perth or adelaide, when within 10 years they might, theve already gone back to gold coast and now SEQ3
They'll be heading back there

Going off memory, we went to perth, then 2 years later the rams... within 10 is plausible, especially since it was inexpensive back then, and current clubs are getting paid overs with broadcast deals.
I mean what else is the Arlc going to do after the next broadcast deal is done? Of course theyll setup the next few teams

'23 Dolphins
'28 Perf/Png
'33 NZ2 and Adelaide
'38 Png/Perf and SEQ4

After what happened in 95 they will never repeat that again
And the rams were filler after Newcastle and other clubs didn’t go to super league and they needed an extra team

The countries only got 5 cities over 1million, you wouldn’t think it’d be so hard to have at least one club in each of them! So rugby league.
Very easy to do on paper and in delusional fantastical minds.

Not so easy to do in reality. Melbourne shows us that with the millions thrown at it to get them where they are today.

A sensible, selfless person would appreciate the NRLs financial responsibility in not expanding until the time was right, not just doing it because a bunch of pelicans with nil real time experience in sports administration wanted it because they need a dot on the map erection.
