3 of whom have no players to contribute, so the despised Sydney clubs have to do the heavy lifting for them.5 cities, just 5 cities. So rugby league.
damn Superleague.
Very easy to do on paper and in delusional fantastical minds.
Not so easy to do in reality. Melbourne shows us that with the millions thrown at it to get them where they are today.
A sensible, selfless person would appreciate the NRLs financial responsibility in not expanding until the time was right, not just doing it because a bunch of pelicans with nil real time experience in sports administration wanted it because they need a dot on the map erection.
you make it sound like Perth and Adelaide never had arl or nrl teamsThe countries only got 5 cities over 1million, you wouldn’t think it’d be so hard to have at least one club in each of them! So rugby league.
Plus you guys Newcastle Auckland and qld3 of whom have no players to contribute, so the despised Sydney clubs have to do the heavy lifting for them.
Afl has a similar geographic spread that leaves places out
also how many teams in Melbourne ? Similar
Right here, right now……you make it sound like Perth and Adelaide never had arl or nrl teams
obviously anything before 2010 isn’t really your strong point is it
Incorrect, this competition has not brought in a another sydney side since penrith, it has only ever expanded (souths return doesn't count)
Your talking as if it will never go back to perth or adelaide, when within 10 years they might, theve already gone back to gold coast and now SEQ3
They'll be heading back there
It’s so rugby league, if many had their way the next two teams would be another Brisbane team and gosford bears. It shows how small our game remains in its thinking.I never suggested that they had.
Maybe they will. They should do it. Nevertheless we have some people saying we should put another side in Brisbane. That reeks of the conservatism that the game has had in its history.
Melbourne doesn’t have 9 afl teams ?Similar geographical spread? If you say so.
You think the nrl clubs will allow thatRight here, right now……
We just did that sort of, at least one in SEQ, they are conservative is only coz the comp coming off of restructured funds, and a chance to expand without having to foot the bill, next one might be the same, but it will spark a need to head to WA/SAI never suggested that they had.

F1 just the latest example of casting off the old shackles. For years everyone said usa not interested in F1, new company takes over and low and behold America is now falling over itself to host races and selling 400k tickets a race. The old appeals to authority. I guess nobody can make a comment on anything - politics, sport, economy - unless they are intimately involved in the process. I guess the appeal also doesn’t seem to work outside of Rugby League. We are the outlier remember, not anybody else.
Also, there is no suggestion anywhere, by anybody, that suggests we do it now. There should be at least a recognition, however, that it could and should be done.
Would it be hard - of course it would be hard. Most things in life are hard. There is no evidence supplied yet though that suggests that it is implausible or not worth doing.
Nah it didn’t work
but if you wanna dream about Adelaide in a decade good for you
Adelaide imploded due to bad media and afl run agendasIf you want to use those parameters, then a second Brisbane side didn’t work, Illawarra didn’t work, Gold Coast didn’t work, Perth didn’t work, a whole bunch of Sydney teams didn’t work etc.
I don’t how you can use such a circumstance as a Super League war where nearly half the teams were booted or merged as some sort of reason not to do something now. Completely different set of circumstances which won’t (most likely) ever happen again.
It’s by far the dumbest argument people put forward as a reason not to do something. It didn’t work so we shouldn’t try again, even though the environment is totally different now.If you want to use those parameters, then a second Brisbane side didn’t work, Illawarra didn’t work, Gold Coast didn’t work, Perth didn’t work, a whole bunch of Sydney teams didn’t work etc.

you hear very little about the rams and what worked and what didn’t, be fascinating to get some insider knowledge on what went on there.Adelaide imploded due to bad media and afl run agendas

Sometimes you just have to have faith in your product and a good sales strategy.
If we had the games early 90’s leadership with todays money and profile the game could be anything. Club 18 decision is going to say a lot about if the nrl has grown up or remains same old same old.Exactly. It’s funny how the self coined most pro league people are seemingly the most pessimistic about the product that is being sold
Being optimistic, the game couldn’t have been run more poorly in the last 30-40 years, yet here we are and we are the most popular TV sport in the country. Imagine how good a position we would or could be in if we actually realised how good our product was and actually believed in it.
