Funny enough after my rant the other day about Matty Johns`s comment "it`s massive" regards the amount of oil money there is in P.N.G., Exxonmobil, a company indelibly associated (for better or worse) with oil comes out and announces a three-year sponsorship of P.N.G. Rugby League.
Can you please rant some more about this mate ?

Png aid a year 620 million from Australia

20 to 30 million extra because of China is a very minor increase
Interestingly its been forecast to drop significantly this year to $596mill from a high of $745mill a couple of years ago

Going back to Albo he clearly wants to see it based IN PNG.

“Today I affirm my view that I want to see a PNG-based, Pacific Islander team compete in the National Rugby League competition,” he is expected to say.
Mr Albanese told reporters in Australia on Wednesday he was “very keen” to see a PNG-based team participate in the NRL, revealing he had raised the proposal with the league’s administrators.

“It’s understood PNG would likely join forces with Tonga, Samoa, the Cook Islands and Fiji to form a Pasifika team.”

Pretty good spread of places

Albo sounds like this will happen

It’s simple

the arlc will be asking this question

I mean I know this forum has experts in financial analysis but I think we can trust the arlc to ask this very simple question on the games behalf
The ARLC couldn't be trusted to secure a fair broadcast deal.

Does anyone else think it's batshit insane for our PM to use a prospective football team in PNG as a political football against China?
Do I think it will make a blind bit of difference? No.
Do I think if China wanted to invade Australia PNG would make any difference? No.
Does Australia supporting a PNG team in the NRL create a better relationship than the one we have based on gifting them $600mill plus a year already? Probably not.
Should be worried about china moving in on island nations when we are happy to let them have such a strong footprint in Australia, and in fact encourage that? Probably not
Is it batsht crazy to have a club based in a totally different country representing 6 others? Hell yeh. Rugba league baby.

But then I think its batsht crazy to spend $368billion of our $'s on some submarines but here we are.

PNG Hunters is a much better name imo. Like Redcliffe promoting up to the NRL from the Q Cup, so could PNG Hunters

Canberra pays 3 million pa for a Sydney afl team to play 3 games there

pick any nfl team where governments spend billions of dollars on stadia to get the team to move there

etc etc

Do you want me to clarify what the words fully subsidised means? It's none of your examples.
Apparently the cairns mayor and PNG oil??? Clubs need to be generating $15-20million in football club operations. How on earth a PNG club based in Cairns would do that is yet to be explained.

Remember it's only based in Cairns for a few weeks a season.

yeh itll be a hard sell for Perth, new market of 2.2million affluent people.
PNG nothing, just more expense for the tv company. Albo better be covering running costs AND grant cost then!
You should email these concerns to Peter

or he probably has you on his speed dial you should discuss this urgently and resolve this
