Do I think it will make a blind bit of difference? No.
Do I think if China wanted to invade Australia PNG would make any difference? No.
Does Australia supporting a PNG team in the NRL create a better relationship than the one we have based on gifting them $600mill plus a year already? Probably not.
Should be worried about china moving in on island nations when we are happy to let them have such a strong footprint in Australia, and in fact encourage that? Probably not
Is it batsht crazy to have a club based in a totally different country representing 6 others? Hell yeh. Rugba league baby.

Without going into deep detail about the why and how (otherwise we'll be here all day), China's real goal is to gain control over the First Island Chain and South China Sea, but they know that the West, it's allies, and just about everybody else in the world, can't and won't allow that to happen. They also know that if/when they attempt it, almost certainly by invading Taiwan first, that they'll almost certainly launch the biggest war since WWII, and potentially even trigger a third World War.

What they're doing in the PI's specifically is using the Belt and Road Initiative to build infrastructure that they can use as navel bases and other military infrastructure to combat nations that would oppose them, including Australia.

However, that all being true doesn't change the fact that football teams in the PI's will do little to nothing to change the situation when the rubber hits the road.

Look, it's very straightforward.

If we get a PNG/Pasifika team added to the NRL that's subsidized by the Federal Government, then the Government changes to an austere, conservative party (oddly named the Liberals) which slashes the funding.. well, where does that money then come from?

The Libs have been funding the Hunters and Fiji in the NSW Ron Massey Cup for years. Goes in the aide budget, As the flow on affects to those countries are huge

Nope, They want the Bears name, colours and 2 games in Sydney that is it.

as for the rest of the home games, If Bathurst, Coffs, Mudgee etc can host games. No reason the islands can't.

The rest you can play where their is a strong islander population. Warriors over there etc. between selling off home games, Govt funding academies and alike on the relevant islands.

The side is certainly a better option then a few options here, Certainly better than the Super Rugby Pasifika and Fiji teams. Or the 2nd NZ A League team

Billy Moore has stated many times recently, the club's non-negotiables are important and at the forefront of all our NRL readmission discussions. Those non-negotiables are
our red & black colours,
our club logo with the Bear head,
we play selected games at the home of the Bears North Sydney Oval,
and lastly the license sits with the NSDRLFC.
These non-negotiables have not and will not change as we progress in discussions.

Then $10 million a year for 10 years?

Hard to believe a club that hasn't been in the comp for 25 years can have non-negotiables.
