Thats a stretch, most NZ/PI players in NRl are from Australia or moved here at a youbg age. 25 years of Warriors alone hasnt seen the big increase of players developed in NZ and entering NRl systems from NZ at 18plus.

TBF if you had the chance for signing for Roosters, Melbourne or one of the other Australian clubs or for PNG who have to travel overseas/interstate nearly every week, play in Port Moresby regularly and are not even based in the country they represent who are you signing for? Brisbane based you are having to fly for games 21 out of 24 weeks (presuming all home games are in PNG or PI)
Ultimately other clubs will start targeting png talent too like they do nz juniors

numbers aren’t an issue

you’ve got a poor country and a chance to earn even 100k pa in Aussie currency is massive for them

you’ll get half the men under 20 wanting to be professional rugby league players

if Bellamy or bennett are the coach then you can only imagine what kind of juniors they would find

I agree with a lot of what you are saying but Brisbane 3 wouldn`t be the end of the world.
Strong bid and almost guaranteed success and shoring up League heartland. Only stumbling block would be that it would delay Perth by about 5 years. And that`s certainly not ideal.
Either way Perth has to 1 or 2.
Western areas of Brisbane and towards to Toowoomba
Brisbane West franchise

A 2nd Melbourne team
Shore up the East coast
Then maybe a few relocations of Sydney teams to Perth. Adelaide
Then a 2nd NZ team

Ok 🐻

That doesnt happen now and half U20 year old PNG lads now would love to be in NRL. In reality you'd need a significant shift in PNG pathway development and funding, and NRL clubs attitudes and scouting to change. Not sure if youve seen the conditions kids are currently learning RL in across PNG?

Like I said the main reason there are so many Kiwis and Pi'ers in the NRL is because families emigrate to Australia or clubs scout and pick up kids at 15 and move them over to Australia. Its little to do with the Warriors being in the NRL.

No it’s because the warriors in the nrl (esp when sucesful) got Aussie clubs sending scouts to nz to get players

the link I provided literally said the png nrl club want to foster junior pathways

someone posted on here a few months back there was a schoolboys carnival in png and not a single Aussie scout was present

Whose attention? It's been 24 years since they were in the NRL so you'd have to be 30 to recognise their brand. And these 30 year old and above have already got their own team or if they don't aren't going to jump on the bears.

Nostalgia only goes so far and it's not enough to justify a team in the NRL.

How many board members of potential sponsors are under 30? Those younger can currently watch a version of the Bears run around. So too Ipswich in QLD or someone

Are they more likely to jump on board a brand new organisation or one which is known?

IF the Pasifika bid is to be any chance of working it needs an established club in Brisbane or Sydney to get involved

Where are they going to get 100 or so players from, the support staff, Coaches from to run a whole club?

They certainly arent having the cut through in Western Sydney the AFL would have hoped. Having said that their bar is so much higher. I mean some games are getting 88k and their avg is over 30k! Also they can afford whatever costs for however long it takes, $900mill revenue a year gives you that luxury.
Some of our games are getting 9k-12k and our avg has hovered around 14-15k forever. The bar for a new NRl team, wherever it is based, in regards to crowds and fan based revenue is much much lower than in the AFL.

A Pasifika bears team would be the dumbest thing ever attempted. Too dumb ideas tied together.

Not enough people cared about the bears when they got the chop and even less care now. That's the sad reality. Guys like Florimo and Moore giving a few people false hope is actually cruel and selfish.

Pasifika idea is just lazy, rather than actually spend money in the Pacific and promote international football we'll rope together a side to exploit a money making opportunity.

Soccer could laugh as hard at RL tbf in regards to junior numbers comparisons.
AFL has 17 Jnr clubs in Western Sydney. Not sure how many teams each of those clubs are running?
They're in it for the long haul, they'll happily spend hundreds of milliosns more, why? Because they can afford it and they know how important being a national game is. Something Politis also seemingly knows.

Afl has wasted their financial strength on vanity projects with a zero return

that’s why their extra revenue is irrelevant

imagine if they had invested that money wisely rugby league would be stuffed

unless there’s another super league war they can spend another billion on the giants and their crowds will be the same

I`m just hoping eventually fumbleball will end up like soccer is here, some kids will play it till their 13 ( because Mum thinks it is safe) and then they follow the League.
Because like NFL, League will be seen as the real deal.

Not that I want to talk AFL but if you keep insisting... They needed 18 clubs to get bigger tv contracts, they want a national code perception to generate that huge revenue. Bingo they've achieved both things. $26mill on GWS a year is insignificant when they are pulling in $200mill plus and rising a year more than NRL .
Its why Politis knows we need a team in Perth and Adelaide no matter how much hard work it will be.

it is a few years away. A couple of more seasons to assess the RU version.

The 2 go hand in hand though, More players in NRL systems the better to get the pacific nations better.

That is without counting the improvement to the local Leagues.

Given they are islands PNG aside they will never be able to run sides individually so it is a way around that
