quite possibly but I just don’t think and see how a pasifika team could work.
It wouldn't, it would be 100% reliant on the continuation of grants from the government, if that goes the club goes, even if that does by some miracle last 10 years I dont see png losing its security issues or becoming financially viable in less than a decade

There’s an awful lot of assumptions in that!
1. Does the $20-25mill quoted by a news ltd journo have any basis in reality?
2. we dont know the duration of proposed funding
3.your assuming the club will get all the funding and that the nrl wont keep some of it to make up for lost revenue from bringing in an expensive to run club that tv and sponsors aren’t interested in.
4. your assuming the club, despite having the poorest fanbase in the rugby world and ltd corporate appeal, will somehow generate more revenue from football operations than some current nrl clubs in sydney
5. That the facilities for this club will be available eg stadium is up to nrl standards and training base in cairns exists
Png nrl club 42 million vs Perth nrl club 25 million

Png hunters have already shown it can work

I’m not too fussed about tacking fiji and the others into it

ideally they aren’t needed but the guy writing the cheques thinks they are

he wants a pacific solution to China

its not about which expansion bid is going to be the easiest - otherwise it would be Central Coast Bears, it should be about which one benefits the NRL and Rugby League the most long term but yes the business case has to stack up too...

A successful PNG team would be great for the NRL but I think there is way more question marks over it's viability than a Perth team.

Why do you believe the Central Coast Bears would be the easiest?

They would be competing with nine Sydney clubs and the Knights for sponsorship in a regional city. The Bears are not a rich club. Adding the Central Coast Bears would cause more financial problems for the NRL than the Titans did a few years ago.

You would’ve said the same about the warriors cowboys and Perth in 95
That was a massive mistake by Quayle and Arthurson. To get the Sydney clubs to agree to it they forced the Cowboys and Reds to pay the travel and accommodation expenses of their opponents. For the Cowboys it equated to $800k a year. The annual grant was just $500k back then. I think the salary cap was $1.8m. Cowboys had to take out a massive loan to build a stadium.

It was a really stupid decision to put so many hurdles in front of an expansion team. Super League grew out of it.

So you believe within ten years Port Moresby will be as prosperous as melbourne in terms of disposable income of fans and corporate support? Cuckoo cuckoo
They would still be 150 million ahead of the storm after ten years (assuming that govt ever cuts off funding which they won’t)

ball is in wa court. 25 million in cash vs vague promises to upgrade hbf park

not hard to see you got blown out of the water

No because they won’t be earning hardly any money And will be incredibly expensive to run.

Again you love to jump on media gossip and qoute it as facts. No one knows what the Feds are offering And no one knows what the WA govt are offering,

Didnt realise the AFL had plans for a team in the western corridor of brisbane, I'll let all the fumble fans in the office know tomorrow they're all wrong in their expansion guesses 😂

Fear mongering and lack of faith in our game, qld is as rugby league as rugby league gets, why we would need 3 teams in brisbane to combat their 1 beats me
It's not about combatting the AFL, it's about growing our game. SEQ is a huge and growing region and is much more than just Brisbane. We are talking Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay, Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Toowoomba & Gold Coast also. It is smart of the NRL to grow with SEQ.

I think looking at the rivalry between the broncs and dolphins that a 2nd NZ team will have the inside running for next off the rank. I'd leave another brissy team till last , making it 20 teams. Let this rivalry get established.

it makes a nice change, now if Wb could either grow up or f**k off then we can have some decent conversations!
I’m quoting the arlc

if you don’t like the direction they are taking the game you can stick to watching super league

maybe you should learn to handle reality a bit better
