Bringing in a team purely for political reasons is the weirdest thing.
Especially one not based in the target country

Aus: We're gonna pay to fly a team to play in port moresby a few times a year! But you'll have to share with all these other countries too

China: we're going to build all of your roads, civic building, bridges, stadiums

Wonder which is more appealing

Its very white colonial mentality for sure. They all have dark skin, they must all be the same. Lets create a team that somehow represents this diverse group of cultures and nations as one homogenous entity. Very colonial Australian.
Can't blame the old white supremacists for this one.

This form of race pandering as a virtue signal, "equality" for me but not for thee, even the Pasifika identity it's self, are all products of post modernist philosophy and the modern progressive movement.

It's the horseshoe theory proving it's self again.

But thats the point of this, we want them poached and next up man from the pathways, the reason this bid has come about is to increase the player pool

Correct

Same if Perth comes in signs some 17-18 year olds from the East Coast.

They become FGers 9/10 times they are coming home to play around family.

It is what we currently see with the Regional teams the inability to attract talent and moreso to keep it

Depends on a lot of things between here and them ever setting foot on an NRL field but that is certainly the image they seem to be pushing. If they had a play at Taumalolo or Yeo as their marquee signing who do you think they would go for?

Also a FIFO side won’t be attracting many Australian or NZ players anyway but that’s another matter.

This is the thing though, You want to expand in Non RL locations then attracting players is almost impossible

There will be flow on from the NRL side, They aren't going to train on poor surfaces.

Those staff etc are going to be locals, locals will run the food shops that players eat at it has a trickle down affect

Maybe China won’t invest anything and this club will be one of the richest cash flow wise in the nrl ?
And then the government decides it wasn't needed, discontinues funding, and the club goes from the richest to the poorest overnight

Maybe still think there’s a lot of jockeying before this is done

vlandys only said png was a potential

we don’t know what the wa govt will do in reply

the competition will force any bidders to offer more

I want png or nz2 but Perth has its own unique advantages too
Yep, great to hear they are willing to take a look at any bids that come up. In all seriousness, is there any sport in Australia, New Zealand or the Pacific right now that has that many potential options when it comes to expansion? NRL is booming and we haven't even begun on the real growth trajectory yet.

Arl commissioner comes out highlighting need for another brisbane nrl team
The AFL aren't doing shit out there, that is the strongest of RL heartlands. I love the passion though and I would be over the moon if we got a Western Corridor team in SEQ. For me that would be it though. I'd close up shop for QLD at NRL level for the foreseeable future. Dolphins (North), Broncos (City), Jets (West) & Titans (South) is a great spread for a huge and growing region.

We've had all these potential options for a while now and have done nothing about it

Brisbane 2 was the right call and a couple decades too late but chances are knowing RL the next 3 teams will all be more heartland clubs as well 😅
