I don’t think anything you have said here is accurate or of relevance. Comparing Perth grassroots against one of the largest and best RL grassroots areas in the country is strange. Further still, CS Sharks area is potentially still the largest junior sports participation region in the country.

What on earth makes you think players will not move to Perth. It’s been demonstrated already they will. Far more desirable than Melbourne and Canberra.

NZ will not have similar player development issues either. There is a rich nursery of Rugby talent all over NZ that any new RL club could immediately tap into.

Families have their kids change schools all the time. You think Cowboys, Knights, Titans, Raiders and Storm players are all locals?

They aren't all locals but a vast majority are. How often does a quality player accept market value to go there?

They have great junior areas and grow quality players

So stay in Sydney $200,000
Live away from family and friends in the most isolated city on the planet $200,000
They would always be paying overs just like the mines.
Perth would probably need 2 million more in their salary cap to be any chance of a premiership.
Perth is a small boring city and once you're in Perth, you're in Perth, there's nowhere else you can pop into.

Perth people don't get it because they're used to it. Sydney alone is the size of 3 Perths, 1 hour and you're in Melbourne, 1 hour and you're in Brisbane, Gold Coast.
There's choices! Places you haven't been!
You live in Perth then you probably know what lies around every corner.

Not even just Sydney.

Canberra or Newcastle are day drives should they need family

You guys are exaggerating how hard to will be for Perth

Who are these idiots saying it will be hard to attract players to png

they aren’t based in png you dope

every single issue raised by the karens on here about why png won’t work has been addressed by this bid

stop with the preconceived notions

What bid? Where have these points been addressed???

It's ignorant as f**k, to say that PNG would have no trouble attracting players and compare it to a mainland capital city in Australia.

PNG pros:
Great local support
Possible local talent
Government support
Cons:
Far with lots of travel
Security concerns
Not much broadcast money
Broke country
City is only 400k population
Needs Government support

I'm sure there would be some players that aren't into it.

But like the Storm it's attractive to those that want to live outside the "bubble"'and can live a private life without anyone knowing or caring who you are.

But, that's not really my point, I'm saying you can't compare the challenges of trying to talk an Australian or NZer to live in PNG or Perth.

They are light years apart in terms of safety, amenities for families, health, housing, schooling etc etc.

I never said they were as bad as each other merely listing the issues all bid face

Hunters have a foot in QCup. Just need to improve pathways for the next level down.

They are closer to having enough locals to allow for the lack of recruits which all sides need.

Re- The Storm. If a player is injured and struggling. Family could be there in a few hours.

That lessens the home sickness and isolation

Another pro is huge player numbers, just very raw

It will be and they won't get the advantage that Melbourne had where they basically were able to assemble a side from 2 defunct ones.

Players will go to Perth for sure, but you are going to either pay overs for the stars leaving litle left for other players or you'll pay overs for players who are fringe first graders.

They are going to have to get very good recruitment staff and market themselves very well. Essentially target certain type of personalities and players. It’s not impossible but they would have to think outside the square a little bit.

It isn't impossible and the fact the game is talking about it is great.

The reality is a new market has very very low junior development set up, Player numbers etc

Still not addressing the actual proposed bid from png fully

security isn’t much an issue with a team based in Australia

png being poor is a furphy and ignoring both govt backing and linking up with a strong Aussie club

Why don't we play an NRL game in PNG?
because it's difficult, expensive and dangerous.
Until we can prove over a few years taking games there successfully, profitably and safely I'm ruling out PNG.
Gotta walk before you can run.

The PNG government being behind it surely helps with that
