The Dolphins were by far the biggest, richest and most supported club in terms of support in the QRL and BRL respectively.

Newtown aren't that at NSW Cup level.

Even then, I think you will find the media will go "off them" as they will now finish outside the eight, and suddenly start being deemed a failure (which of course is pure rubbish)

Redcliffe was in Queensland cup which is actually lower level.

Dolphins hit ground running with ready fan base. History with beetson etc gave them legitimacy. This is what Perth are probably chasing

Cronulla's not funding them to be a proper club with jnrs. Just a training place for fringe players.

Bears have 'non negotiables'
Sinking money into a dead nswrl club with poor juniors and finances bc you’re afraid of the bears is next level thinking

In all honesty, maybe Newtown are fighting for their survival, most NRL clubs are now looking at going it alone in the NSW Cup, maybe the Sharks have informed the Jets of these intentions ?.
Perth spending a million a year to support rugby league in Sydney is a nice gesture I guess lmao

it shows a lack of understanding of Sydney. Thinking Newtown can In any way offer what the bears do is stupid on another level

they will realise their error after a few years and jettison them off

The jets history will make zero difference to the people of perth. Who exactly do you think adopting a Sydney brand is going to endure them to? Certainly not their home fanbase.

Yeh I think the same. The nrl has been pushing its clubs to set up its own reserve grade sides and bears, Newtown and Blacktown are going to be hung out to dry soon. There’s every reason to believe we may see a nrl reserve grade comp in years to come and then these clubs are going To need to find some way to stay relevant And in existence in some way shape or form. I can see the nrl allowing any nsw/qrl club aligned with a non qlnd/nsw nrl club to be in a reserve grade. So we could see a pirates reserve grade side made up primarily of wa players and a jets reserve grade side linked to pirates also in nrl reserve grade. Likewise for melbourne and probably a second warriors nz reserve grade on South Island.

pokies won’t help them when all the nrl clubs have their own reserve grade sides and the nrl creates a genuine reserve grade comp. Bears have now had to go to storm, blacktown are with manly and Newtown sharks. If nrl creates a reserve grade those three clubs will be cut loose to whatever a Sydney third tier comp becomes. Unless they can link with a non heartland nrl club and nrl allows them in reserve grade. look at Mounties as an example.

now I think about it maybe we should be flipping the whole partnership brand thing. Rather than perth adopting a Sydney brand maybe we should find a feeder club willing to adopt the perth nrl brand? Take a LC like Blacktown or Mounties, to keep them relevant into the future they could partner with perth and become Blacktown or Mounties pirates?

Maybe they play in that comp

vlandys won’t cut them off if they have money which many do

maybe they merge the remaining qrl and nswrl into a separate comp but no way the arlc lets them wither on the vine

Mounties have loads of money, why arent they in nsw cup anymore? Money is only one part, if you’re not alligned with an nrl club you aren’t attracting talent to make you competitive.

me thinks you put too much faith in the arlc, they will do what’s best for nrl and blow the rest. Why do you think their offering financial incentives to nrl clubs to have their own reserve grade and jnr comp sides now Rather tHan partner with other league clubs?

Qrl are known to be opposed as it will massively impact their comp. nswrl less so as in reality all but three clubs are nrl club reserve grade sides anyway. If qrl can stop what seems to be the inevitable we shall see. As said theres a reason the nrl is financially driving nrl clubs to now have their own reserve grade sides and not rely on nsw or qrl cup clubs.
