This is an even worse idea than the Bears. People who were in their 40s when the Jets were kicked out are now in their 80s. Their old fan base who were around to see them play in first grade and were old enough to care about them being kicked out of the comp will all be gone in a few decades.

Fair enough if all this link ends up being is Perth using Newtown as a feeder club, but the idea of taking on their identity and playing home games in Sydney is just odd.

Lol, look at the crowds. Lots of ppl who probably weren't even born when jets were in comp

Haha couple Of hundred people there for a beer festival? And that somehow tells us what? The other photo of 20 or so middle aged white haired blokes in jets jerseys seems to be more indicative of what little fanbase they have.
No beer festival there on saturday. There are many more when that's on.
Get a pic up of the WA rugby league crowds for the weekend and compare.
You could put every single game combined up and they still wouldn't have as many fans as Newtown.
Facts are facts.

You think a bunch of hipsters who buy Jets memorabilia to wear around to show that they’re from the area and occasionally show up to Henson Park to drink on a sunny afternoon will become hardcore fans of a WA team?

They aren’t the old Jets fans. The new Jets experience has found its niche as an emblem of inner west subculture, how many of those people who partake in it you could realistically convert into fans of a WA based Jets is very debatable.

I don't think Perth need a connection to Sydney, they should be their own entity.

But the jets are a good link because every person in Perth is a billionaire apparently and so have their own private jet.
And you need one for the opposition to play them and vice versa when they travel away.... the new catch cry for perf jets "get on the jet"

They aren’t the old fans who would’ve been around to see them get kicked out or their initial efforts to rejoin first grade. There hasn’t been any noise from their new fan base to get them back in the NRL, they found their niche in the NSW Cup and being an emblem of inner west subculture. How many of them are realistically going to become fans of a WA based Jets?

You see more jets merch in newtown than any NRL team & it's more of afl type of young inner city supporter.
Yeh

Or maybe their family are long time Newtown fans

being a foundation club they have generational support
