You missed the tv ratings thread ?
ratings mean nothing if they arent converted to monetary value. And we all know the long history of that situation. Be honest would you rather have more viewers on tv, or more money in the bank to invest in the sport?

430 million is the old deal

im obviously talking about the next deal

won’t be good for your beloved afl
There is no link that the deal is $430mill, plenty that have it at $400mill
Sky NZ $32mill cash and contra
Nine $115mill cash + $15mill contra (inc radio)
Fox not announced

ah you're opinion then, ok thanks for clarifying. Between you and I only one is self confessed AFl fan that admitted to following the Swans. And it isnt me lol

It was 30 million last time

only a fool would compare their future deal with our current deal which I’m sure you aren’t lmao

It’s not just TV though is it?

Haven’t they made like $2 billion more in the last decade. Seriously only a fool at this point would suggest that their strategy hasn’t paid dividends where our strategy (lack thereof) has.

The fact that we are still popular despite our terrible administration over the past 20-30 years is testament to how good our product is.

They had two more teams

so for all that extra revenue why have ratings collapsed in nsw and qld

because they are dots in a map nobody cares about afl

They reflect each sports popularity

afls national conception isn’t very popular
It is with media and sponsors who pay them way more than they pay us

But you didnt answer. Would you rather have $500mill in the bank or bigger audiences?

Two more teams equals two billion dollars does it? Are you seriously suggesting that they haven’t managed their competition better than ours over the past 20-30 years?

FMD there are people on here and in the media arguing that we should have another Brisbane side because of the Lions. I think it’s laughable btw but anyway that says something surely.

This is a thing with some people: they take their like or dislike of something and conflate it. So essentially you have people trying to argue that fumbleball haven’t been more successful than League over the past however long because of their predilections. I hate fumbleball more than anyone but I don’t argue against evidence.

It all likelihood its anywhere between $50-75mill difference in 23&24. Jumping to $150mill plus in 25-27.
Anywhere around $500-600mill difference in this NRL tv deal period. Sweet sweet deal we got there lol

But hey weve got bigger audiences so not all bad right?

Why are you arguing only ratings when all other evidence is in their favour - or does that not suit your narrative. You know things that actually make an iota of difference.

Here is an analogy for you. Trumpeting ratings for NRL whilst getting paid a squillion less is like me saying I should be happy working longer hours and doing more work than somebody else and getting paid half. Seriously mate how is that a good thing?

Because ratings show afl expansion is dots on map

the lights are on and nobody is Home

nrl games average 30 percent more viewers than afl

so which code is more National ?
Cause it ain’t fumbleball

Only an idiot would compare the new tv afl deal with the old nrl deal
Im comparing a tv deal period of 2023 til the nrl deal runs out in 2027. They both signed new tv deals commencing 2023. Truth hurts I know for you but facts are facts. These are the media revenue streams of both sports for the next 5 years. And by the end of it we will be over $500mill behind. Spin it how you like but thats the stark reality. Can only imagine what the sport could be if it had an extra $500mill revenue to invest in the next 5 years.

Our next tv deal will easily beat the next afl deal

sorry to burst your bubble

Again grate, nice bragging rights. But it dont put food on the plate. That is seen on how media vlaues the sport. And very very clearly we are valued much less than AFL, regardless of our audience.

You are also taking one metric out of many to justify your position.
Top tier club location, participation in every S&T, fan base in every S&T, media coverage in very S&T. Value of the competition to its sponsors plus others. These are also relevant metrics to consider in looking at the "national" interest level of a sport.
