Base them in sydney? so rugba league lol

The point is if PNG is the market an Australian base is just for training and a safe place to live so why not pick the most convenient place which like it or not is Sydney.

Majority or all home games will be in PNG. No they won’t win over hoards of fans in Blacktown or Bondi but they won’t win over many in Cairns either, that isn’t the point of the whole thing. If they’re based in Cairns they travel every week, if they’re based in Sydney it’s a bus trip for potentially 10 games a year.

If I was a player I know which option I’d prefer.

PR must have sent pictures of his dick to someone's granny or something ...the hatred of him has extended to all English people and Western Australians from the forum nutjobs lol

The 2 supposed true rugby league fans want rugby league to die everywhere except for NSW and QLD solely because of a single anonymous person on the internet.

you did bring up English and the correct use of it on the internet after all.

Seen as though it’s an internet wager I’ll bet $600 million that PNG won’t be the 18th team in my opinion.
Typical pommie answer

keep talking bollocks it’s funny

Same here mate.

To be fair anyone capable of critical thinking could have seen the potential pitfalls of putting a PNG team in the NRL a mile off and now tragically it’s playing out in front of us today unfortunately .

I understand the PNG proposal has the potential to cause problems on and off the field, however I think people are exaggerating to some extent. From the best of my knowledge there has never been any crowd violence at PNG Hunters games in Port Moresby. The annual Prime Minister's XIII game has not led to any players sustaining an injury from crowd violence.

I don't think you are getting the point... this is the plan, not what should they be doing differently or better or whatever ideas the thread has now decided to throw up, cairns offers the players, staff and families an aus base, safety, away from the dangers of port moresbys current issues, the games played in PNG are important to bid, but the home base isn't,
it simply a place to train and live

Yeh I’m aware Cairns seems the most likely base, doesn’t mean I won’t argue there are better options. For all those things you mention Sydney can play the same role but better.

When the Prime Minister’s XIII men’s and women’s teams played in Port Moresby in September, their security detail issued strict advice: don’t give your jersey to someone in the crowd because it could lead to violence, possibly death.

According to brain and. Gobs these riots should also mean the end of the png hunters

so when they play their first fixture in a few months it’ll be obvious it’s just bs

Crowd violence is one thing but rioting, looting, multiple deaths and the declaration of a state of emergency is another.

I

i provided a link

there’s a regional fund of federal money council is applying for that is available (don’t think it’s Olympics related )

Pretty funny karentard really doesn’t want cairns to get a new ground

If you’d done 2 minutes more research you’d see that the “$400 million regional precincts and partnerships program” mentioned is a nation wide program for multiple projects with a maximum of $50m per grant, they’re not giving it all to Cairns. Not getting a new stadium or much more than a coat of paint for that these days.
