50 million is one new 10k stand

im sure albo will top it up if asked since this is his baby

That’s if they get it and that doesn’t leave anything for the rest of the “precinct”.

I’d love to see some decent 15-20k stadiums in places like Cairns, Rockhampton or Wagga but it’s not likely to happen any time soon when can’t even get our major stadiums done right.

One group rioted over being murdered by cops. The other group rioted because $120 was missing from their pay.
Both groups vandalised stores and stole property. Walmart has shut down some of its stores due to a rising rate of theft.

When the Prime Minister’s XIII men’s and women’s teams played in Port Moresby in September, their security detail issued strict advice: don’t give your jersey to someone in the crowd because it could lead to violence, possibly death.

The RLPA will have a say on the matter. If they feel it's too dangerous for the players then they'll tell V'landys and Albo to get stuffed.

It begs the question: If it's too dangerous to send NRL players to Port Moresby, why are we forcing Queensland Cup players to go there?

Wasn't there a soccer game in Melbourne that was called off because angry fans ran onto the field and hit a player in the head with a bucket?

The temporary stands at the northern and southern ends of QSAC should be shipped to places like Cairns and Mackay.

Really depends if the team are staying there long term of short term

if it’s short term as Andrew hill wants then a cheap cosmetic solution of 20 million with use of temporary stands will be the solution

if it’s longer term then perhaps more money spent

Sydney only has 2 NRL quality stadiums, Brisbane one.

And somehow NQ will get two? For one team?

Trying to downplay the current situation in PNG is a new low.

The police went on strike for mere hours and the place decended into pure anarchy, with at least 22 dead in 24hrs.

No isn't comparable to anywhere in Australia in terms of security.

Albo so wrapped up in geo politics that he forgot that their domestic situation is a disaster.

But have you heard Semi Valemei had his car stolen, and that's pretty much the same thing as 22 people getting murdered.

Surprised they didn’t send some of the Dairy Farmers stuff to Mackay and/or Cairns.
I assume, without any knowledge of the contracts, and by reading the below press release, that some of the infrastructure is transferred into the ownership of the demolition contractor, as a way of reducing the cost. With the balance being decided by the local authorities

“Work is already underway to recycle and repurpose as much of the infrastructure from the stadium as possible,” he said.

“FK Gardner & Sons who have an office in Garbutt, have indicated recycling of materials such as concrete, steel, copper, glass and bulk excavation materials will be a priority.

The Department of Tourism, Innovation and Sport has been working with Stadiums Queensland to repurpose fixtures, fittings and equipment for the benefit of community groups in Townsville.

This includes small commercial kitchen fixtures and loose furniture, the former stadium’s goal posts as well as demountable units.

All the salty cowboys fans about png are hilarious

so y’all are expansionist as long as it’s not near (4.5 hours lol) away
Adding another team to a small market that is already served by an NRL team isn't expansion, its dilution of the market and putting both teams sustainability at risk.

For example, anywhere in NSW would be a terrible idea, as would Melbourne, Auckland or SEQ (in the next decade).
