Funnily enough these polls mean shít, perth has been the favourite for over 20 years of these polls, yet still no perf team... they should be asking the CEOs of each club basically the only people that matter, the blake solly's, and the nick politis's, they are ones that vote, not the magical chairs/revolving door coaches/assistants, should be banking on 2nd or 3rd place everytime.... what percentage was fiji this time btw
I'm sure you'd be thinking differently if PNG was top of the list.
But do any polls mean anything? The SMH polled the clubs CEO's and Chairman in 2021 and most didnt want a team from Brisbane in 2023. So I'm not sure they hold as much power as you think.

Not really, i know its not the most popular vote, but its the best one in terms of population behind it, albeit the majority of it are poor, but atleast there isn't ant rival code to worry about vying for their support...
With all other areas you're either trying to grab attention away from AFL in Perth, Adelaide or Vic2, or SR in getting a NZ2 in... as for that poll, it might not be Brisbane that was the issue, more likely the 2023 year or any expansion at all that skewed those votes... im sure their would be a clearer answer now, since they've seen what expansion has done since the dolphins admission.

I've always said the Titan's inclusion had left the rest of the clubs not really excited to see more expansion, it seemed a bit of a let down.. dolphins has done the opposite.. now we are getting a bit more areas starting up bids and seeing more interest in our game, from places that traditionally weren't

Titans were killing it the first few seasons so thinking the Dolphins are a huge success after one season is dumb.

still arguing about things that happened 27 years ago like its relevant today....

The Roar article doesn't mention what % Perth had and the NewsCorp article is paywalled. Looks like no votes for Brisbane 3 though LOL
50% of coaches want Perth over any other option, pretty comprehensive!

What the coaches want
Perth 50%
NZ2 23%
PNG 10%
Pacifica 7%
No new sides 7%

brisbane3 0% lol@donkey

Politis knows:
"We have to go to 20 teams and we have to go to Western Australia. We need more content and to make it a truly national sport, not just one played on the East coast."

We've been hearing the same hype about Perth for 15 or more years.

Still no team in Western Australia.

The definition of insanity is repetitively doing the same thing and hoping for a different result.

I wouldn't believe a word that came from the Western Reds officials. Actions speak louder than words. Reds had a bigger debt than the Crushers.

The irony is you've been playing the same tune for 15 years. You're hypercritical of every club and prospective club that's not from Melbourne and Perth, but make all sorts of excuses for the Storm and Reds when people point out their flaws.

You blame Brisbane and Sydney for rugby league being a minority sport in Melbourne and Perth.

Why don't you blame Hull and Huddersfield for rugby league being a minority sport in London and Toronto?

13 this year to be precise. And will continue to advocate for a National RL competition and a Perth club, thats what RL fans do. You keep telling us how RL cant be successful in growing nationally but AFL can.

Wayne knows: NRL supercoach Wayne Bennett has backed a high-powered push by the coaches for an 18th license to be handed to Perth.
Politis knows: We have to go to 20 teams and we have to go to Western Australia.
Sht even Pistol Pete is coming round: Perth has to be high on the table now, they warrant serious consideration

Maybe its time for you to do another 180 and get back on board the Perth train?

How does putting a team in Perth make the NRL "national"?

Bennett reckoned the 2015 GF should have been replayed the next weekend.

1st few seasons haha, Fast forward dumbshit, that poll was in 2021, they had plenty of downside by then to suggest they weren't a great expansion addition, thats what i was saying maybe the poll in 2009, would have been a bit better example then smartarse

Its one more step. Its actually the one thing we could have over AFL. A claim to a much more Australian national footprint, if we got Perth and Adelaide in. Get them in and market the hell out of RL as the countries national footy game. between metro and regional covg we'd have the high ground which leads to a very different perception of the game amongst sponsors and media.
Not having the countries 4th and 5th biggest cities in a comp when theres only a handful of reasonable sized cities in the country (by Australian standards) means it will never be perceived as being a national comp as it currently stands.
Politis knows this

The reason for that has been explained numerous times, they budgeted a certain amount for travel costs and the ARL doubled it by adding another grade late in the piece.
Yeah I know, doesn't change the fact that they're were quick marching to insolvency until News offered a lifeline. They were literally on the edge of collapse in 96 until News gave them a cash injection through their Sunday Times sponsorship.

As I said before they weren't the only club in that boat either. A lot of those club's struggles were more a result of the NSWRL/ARL's mismanagement than their own, which was another major factor that made SL possible.

That's just not true.

Brisbane/SEQ topped both the coaches and players polls for most years for well over a decade.
