The chairman, a board member and the coach. So yeh I think I'll trust the word of three key people involved in running the club at that time!
A little bit bias, Don't you think? you don't think they'd all be saving face somehow...
I do however agree with you on perth, but yeah taking only their word... bit suss

Politis knows:
"We have to go to 20 teams and we have to go to Western Australia. We need more content and to make it a truly national sport, not just one played on the East coast."
Yeah you forgot the selfish nrl club voters btw

50% of coaches want Perth over any other option, pretty comprehensive!

What the coaches want
Perth 50%
NZ2 23%
PNG 10%
Pacifica 7%
No new sides 7%

brisbane3 0% lol@donkey
Hahaha what coaches want.... is a steady job, and not have another club to steal their livestock, you're always forgetting about these guys

Maybe, but given they lived it Id think they'd know why there was issues. Its well known the late imposition of flying 25 players and staff for a reserve grade side every week put a huge dent in the clubs financial plan. Not to the tune of $10mill though, that was mostly down to ridiculous player salary inflation that saw players on less than $50k go to over $200k plus $50-100k signing fees. but again, different time, differnet city, differnet NRL

Yeah much easier if perth was based on the East Coast, hey PR?

In a thread featuring all sorts of bizarre claims, I'm not sure anything can top "people turn up to Lang Park in North Sydney Bears jerseys all the time" for pure fantasy.

Its one more step. Its actually the one thing we could have over AFL. A claim to a much more Australian national footprint, if we got Perth and Adelaide in. Get them in and market the hell out of RL as the countries national footy game. between metro and regional covg we'd have the high ground which leads to a very different perception of the game amongst sponsors and media.
Not having the countries 4th and 5th biggest cities in a comp when theres only a handful of reasonable sized cities in the country (by Australian standards) means it will never be perceived as being a national comp as it currently stands.
Politis knows this
Having Australia's fourth largest market in the NRL is a selling point. I don't think we'll see Adelaide in the NRL any time soon. Perth is a chance, but I wouldn't bet my house on them getting a licence.

That's just not true.

Brisbane/SEQ topped both the coaches and players polls for most years for well over a decade.
That must have been in the early 2000’s because the Central Coast Bears dominated nearly every poll e.g. RLW (fans/players), Big League, Daily Telegraph (fans/players), Sydney Morning Herald from 2005 to 2014 with the only area getting close to them being Perth.

There's no one in Perth that has declared an interest in running a club? Yeah , great article.
Yeah there's no one whos putting money into a bid, please enlighten me, explain the details buk

"We can talk about how there should be a team in Perth but unless someone is actually willing to do it, there is no team. Maybe over the next months western candidates will emerge. Perhaps the state government will put together a task force to get a NRL licence. Perhaps the West Coast Pirates will form a community bid. Perhaps Andrew Forrest will see the light and realise his Global Rapid Rugby concept and the Western Force would be better served by dropping two men from the starting side, learning to cope with limited possession and working on their cardio. Perhaps Peter Cumins will announce a bid ten minutes after this hits in your inbox, or perhaps that will be next week, or perhaps never but for right now, it does not exist"

You tell me the PNG details.
Someone is paying Freshwater Strategy so someone is interested.

This is pippen level trolling.
Dont deflect, i asked you first, and you've already heard the PNG details, bid is run by andrew hill, and both PNG and Aus govt are attempting to bankroll it... wheres your conviction? Give us the perf details?
Dont forget the article i posted was written about 8 months ago, if this freshwater group is heading up a bid now then its not back then..

Dont dismiss the article just coz it states things you dont like about perth or the lack of effort by the Phantom bidders
