18th club, whose next?

the smart operators have incorporated plant based foods into their menus so they appeal to different cohorts. Just like in Sport, and why Melbourne storm have had success building a big fanbase. They dont try and 'convert' anyone, they offer them an alternative, and some people take up that alternative as well as maintaining their interest in their other sport. Thats the smart way to do it, and Im sure something Perth will have picked up on. The fact 40k WA locals were willing to pay $50-100 to watch RL last year suggests there's an appetite for an alternative in Perth.
I wasn't talking about restaurants that provide vegan options and regular food. I was talking about vegan restaurants.

How many vegan restaurants make money?
Only the good ones. If youre ever in Sydney go to Yellow in Potts Point, the food is incredible.
We used to have an amazing vege chinese in perth called Happy Buddha, was packed every night and was there for 25 years until the sisters retired who ran it. Like any service, make it good and you'll do well. 2.5mill Australians are vegetarians/vegans so not like there isnt a market.

Whooosh, the sound of my post going over your head.
You didn't think through your argument.

Good luck getting people to split their time between the Eagles/Dockers and Pirates. A casual fan might watch the Eagles/Dockers and Pirates on television, but they'll only have enough time and money to actively support one team.

Most of the 40k who went to the double header are casual fans. Only a fraction of them will be active fans with a ticketed membership for the Pirates.

A Perth-based team needs 20k active supporters investing their time and money into he business.

I was vegetarian for many years. I know the community well. There's nothing wrong with vegetarians.

we only need around 35% of them to be attending fans! and thats day 1, who knows where we could be by day 1000. Very doable.

context, you're failing again.
One off big games where you want to maximise crowds a modern oval is fine for.
Stadium Australia is not a rectangular stadium by any stretch of the imagination. Its a worse experience than Optus or MCG imo.
There is a degree of context though, been to all 3 Optus just the once but it was a great experience- bit too far from the cbd was it’s only real negative.
MCG has been great each time.
Accor was fine for Origin and Bledisloe but crap for club games. Has great transport and some decent pubs and food options near by.
Been to pretty much all the stadiums in Aus and NZ and only had 2 where the view was bad enough to annoy me 1. The weird away supporters stand in Wollongong and 2. The old SFS where they had those obstructive pillars (new one is great).
Favourite ones are Commbank in Parramatta and Foresyth Barr in Dunedin(although again a bit far from the cbd).
Suncorp was fine but think it had been built up as a candidate for a world heritage site that I was a little underwhelmed by it.

15,500 active fans is not out of the question for a Perth-based team during its first few seasons.

The concern is how many will stick around after 5-10 years?

None of us can answer that question.

No we can’t but it’s a pretty defeatist attitude to not do something for something that may or may not happen. No reason a well run club can’t be successful in Perth, no reason at all.

I’ve been to Origin at the MCG & Olympic/Accor. Both were great.

Win-agong Stadium? Were you in the piece that curls around the corner?

It's not a priority though. Not only do you want the ARLC to prioritise it ahead of every other club, you want them to bend the rules to make it happen ASAP.

Leichhardt has a bit of an old school charm and viewing was fine but was similar to some of the smaller NZ regional Stadiums such as Yarrow stadium in New Plymouth, FNG in Palmy etc. Brookvale again fine but a similar level to Kogarah and Shark Park where it’s definitely unmistakably ‘suburban’.
