Wrong png will not be enough of a carrot for the 19th team to up the broadcaster deal once again, if anything making it 18th is perfect, coz itll just be evening the no.of teams and adding the one game, which they'll pay for, the 19th has to be a team the broadcasters really want, the bears fits that bill maybe even the Brisbane tigers, and sky sports woll want nz2
Id suggest the opposite. PNg has no intrinsic value to Australian tv. In fact it could be seen as a negative given increased production costs for games from there and the fact our only other overseas club is one of the lowest drawing teams in australia.

Given timing of tv deals it would make more sense to bring in perth or christchurch as 18 to maximise the 2028 tv deal then bring in PNG as club 19 in say 2030/32 with full funding from govt so tv revenue doesnt matter in their regard.

The 18th team isn’t going to matter this round, its the 19th that needs to be the carrot, again it doesn't matter who the 18th is the extra game is what will boost the deal, we wont know when/if the 20th will be at the same time as the 19th, better that its the more desirable location/club

To tell you the truth the NRL probably won’t even consider either NZ2 or Perth unless the Bears are involved with one of them, which one is the question ?, just a feeling I’ve got and been given when you look at the comments over the lasts few months.
Ideally Perth will be strong enough to go it alone, maybe with a new pathways project with newtown. then bears to Adelaide where they can run the show.

That would suggest nz2 as team 19 as they offer value to kiwi broadcasters then either Perth or Brisbane 3

This is probably the most incorrect statement in the history of the internet.
Yes plain silly. Perth being a one team city and state of considerable wealth have every chance of being a powerhouse of the same magnitude as Melbourne. And we know how powerhouses rate on Tv. Throw in the interstate rivalry aspect and there`s a lot to be optimistic about with Perth.

Add to the fact the bears are a shoe in with Perth in regards to colors, and arlc playing favourites and they bring their heritage brand, it obviously a location that will be talked about when/if announced moreso if they went it alone as a perth only bid

The biggest problem for me with that is that I think the Perth/WA team should have its` own distinct homegrown logo instead of the tired old Bears logo forced on them. I think it would make it a lot easier to attract local fans wanting to get behind their team. We`ve seen the excitement that the inspired choice of Kea has generated, at least on here anyway. I`m a big fan of the name Orcas as well if we eventually get a Wellington franchise.
HST, if WA fans don`t mind then all well and good.

As a Perth local I agree with your thoughts. Imagine the lead up to the first game, all the excitement that should be around Perth at getting its club back. You whack on ch9 or Fox and who are the talking to?
Florimo, Billy Moore, Jason Taylor!!!! f**k me, no one here gives a stuff about the bears.

I can see all the old boys wanting the first home game of Perth/South Island Bears to be played at North Sydney Oval. Start the white-anting from day 1 uhh I mean start the season with a bang from the “iconic” NSO. Needs to be no Bears‘ old boys anywhere near any positions of power in that regard.
