Gender is irrelevant to performance. Gender balance is important for driving a modern business. Doesn’t have to be 50% and I’m not a fan of quotas but with league looking to have a stronger female player base it only makes sense to have more women in powerful positions.
One woman on the board = modern inclusive club
No women = backward

surely it should be 50 50 or it’s still not equal ?

one suggests tokenism

Why ?, I know plenty of girls who play league, they do so because they want to play league or they choose a club with a good reputation or professional pathways, nothing to do with the boardroom.
The Bears have teams in the Lisa Faola and Tarsha Gale Competitions, last year the Bears reached the GF of the Harvey Norman Womens competition.
Nobody gives a shit about a woman sitting in the boardroom as long as the females are being successfully catered for like the men, and they are.
Cool story bro

All depends really. Just where did I say the sharks were a modern inclusive club? I’d say most clubs including the sharks are moving to a more inclusive structure driven by modern business practices. That will drive an increase in female board members. And that’s good.

Actually until you mentioned it I didn’t notice it, the female thing, seriously though when I mentioned Raelene Castles hair I was serious, have you seen her ?.
People would be trying not to piss themselves laughing at boardroom meetings with her there.
Only one or two of these Bears guys will get onto the Perth Bears board anyways, wonder if WA has any female representation ?.

It`s great if the girls that play are aware and inspired by knowing there are women in the senior positions of their club, it`s a great message that they can do it too. But just as importantly, probably more so, it is the women`s perspective on what women and girls want and need - that women in senior positions can provide - and that is why it is essential if we are going to maximise this exciting new growth area of the game.

Yeah, but so can 50%. It could indicate that they were only after the best woman for the job instead of the best person. Which actually demeans the woman that gets the job.

I believe in equality of opportunity. The best person gets the job, if that is a woman candidate hire her. She gets equal pay and grading to a man in that same position. She gets the job for being the best candidate.

When are we going to require quotas on boards by heritage? For people with disabilities? They are part of the population - shouldn't diversity and inclusion warrant a proportionate number of seats on the board?

Yes, They should get a place on the board if they are the best candidate, diversity and inclusion rules should stop them being excluded from consideration but that’s it.

And the fact there are no women should automatically lead people to assume (as people have here) that the club is mysongenisic (gym too tired to google spelling lol)
