I love how the so called pro-expansion accounts on this forum are death riding the first expansion side in the NRL for 16 years.

It's almost like they are self inter ested shit heads.

imo, and I may well prove to be wrong, and hope I am!, Firehawks would have been better for Brisbane as a genuine second city club playing all games out of Suncorp and taking on AFL in the territory they have clearly targeted. That has sweet FA to do with Fox/Kayo viability lol.

The Lions play all there home games at the Wooloongabba.

Sticking a pokie den in South Brisbane has not increased there appeal in that market one iota.

Are you saying they are not actively targeting the southern region of Brisbane? Hmmm looks like it to me.

Its almost like you cant be a critical thinker and maybe think that option B was better than option A in the great expansion of the game debate.
But yeh lets all just close down our thinking and cheer for the choice made.

To me they arent an expansion club anyway, they're just a heartland club in an already Rl area promoted into the top tier that adds to the number but does little to grow the game.
I wish them well as their success means we may see a proper expansion club next, beyond that I have no more interest in them than I do any other NRL club, bar Storm.

Easts are also loaded. Pokies and all that.
Yes, but if we are picking the best bid, Easts aren't quite there with Redcliffe. Easts are a club on the move though and I hope they get their shot one day. They are around the corner from me. Great business and club they've built

You've invented some criteria and applied your bias to it

Sad to say but Perth dead is right

broncos won’t allow easts tigers in the nrl

even the titans were against a south western Brisbane team (jets) as they felt it hurt them

south qld jets are team 19 with a similar model as the dolphins

they need a new stadium however and their bid is really weak financially

the bombers didn’t add a thing to their bid

I think it will depend on how well expansion goes. If the Dolphins and Perth/NZ (i.e. an 18th game) bring in the big dollars. The clubs will see that expansion means revenue growth. If it doesn't make a huge difference, then they won't be in favour of it.

Agree that a fourth team in SEQ is pushing the limits of saturation and if Easts got a spot at all, it would be well down the track and they'd have to represent the south-west rather than be a carbon copy of the Broncos as an inner city club (agree with you that neither the Broncos or the wider game really wants or needs this).

By who? And which team are you referring to?

And why is that influencing your decision?

Good riddance to Super Rugby's silly team names

It’s only taken 23 years, but at last those running Super Rugby realise they must fix the bleeding obvious – the bewildering team names.

Since the competition began in 1996, the No.1 complaint has been that so many don’t have a clue where the teams come from because of their silly names. It is rugby’s Rubik’s cube.

Thankfully, as revealed in the Herald, the broadcasters want Super Rugby teams to feature the home city or region in their name. Not before time.

How would you know?

You don't live in southern Brisbane.

Fumbleball is growing at the junior level in southern Brisbane. Independent Catholic schools in southern Brisbane have strong fumbleball programs. The Springwood Pumas are getting stronger thanks to the Lions@Springwood Social Club.
