Let's just see what the Jets are expecting here.

I bet it's a lot less than Norths are demanding.

If Newtown is happy to be very much a minor party/passive party in this (so long as they get a feeder-deal that cements their NSW Cup future) then it might bring a positive dimension to a Perth club.

We may not be looking at a joint venture in the traditional "equal partners" model that the NRL has seen, with all the pitfalls that's had.
1) If it`s genuine it would be a bloody sight cheaper to run a reserve grade team out of Sydney; or possibly,

2) Could be a tactic being used by Perth to get the Bears to back off a little with their demands as well.

Personally, I just hope Perth are wealthy enough to stand on their own two legs, much less complicate that way.

..when team needs to attached itself to supposed failed Sydney clubs lol
Two points on that...

1 - it sounds like it's the Jets initiating these talks.

2 - If the Perth bid are entertaining this approach from Newtown, they might just feel that some kinda link to RL heartland is necessary to sway the NRL's decision makers. That says more of the NRL's values (or PERCIEVED values, in the eyes of the Perth bid) than anything else.

Ownership wise they'll be wealthy enough. Having a feeder club though makes sense early on in their existence though. Especially if it puts Vlandys at ease to them having a Sydney link. He seems to think it's important to cater for Sydney fans .

I wouldn`t be surprised if V`landy`s pointed them in the direction of both the Bears and Newtown. We know in his own way he`s very conservative and he may see linking them with a traditional club as a better way to ensure their survival. If they outgrow them, well, that won`t be the NRL`s problem.

Not a strong look needing to pick back off former NRL clubs which ppl here have openly mocked

Perth has worked for two decades now *on their own* to try and get back into the NRL.

It's not made any progress.

In that case, why wouldn't they (at least) explore other angles - including an appeal to tradition - to try getting across the line?
You just made his point for him lol

Funny all the super leaguers saying Sydney teams holding game back & but now running to borrow cred from clubs that have been out of league for decades. Oh the irony

100%. If Vlandys wants a Sydney link, you give him one. Without giving ownership to the bears. Smart strategy

Biggest take away from the article for me was right at the end where it said the corporate hospitality for the double header sold out in a week!
Combine that with an expected 40k+ crowd and it really just proves Perth must be the 18th team for mine.

The rest of the article is nonsense though, any potential Sydney club tie up should only be entertained if it brings a strong brand and junior pathways that helps bring WA players through.
There should be absoloutely no home games played outside of WA, but like the article mentions, a Sydney membership should be sold for away games and ideally games against big Sydney rivals should be played at the new SFS.
