It isn't ideal, but if it goes through then it leaves the door open for the Bears to base themselves out of Adelaide. Hopefully this gives the Bears the reality check they need to realise they are not in a position to make demands.
The Bears have had dozens of reality checks over the last 20 years and haven't learnt from any of them, so I don't see why this one would be any different.

Perth doesn't need Newtown and shouldn't be forced into the position of having to work with an old Sydney club, but they'd be a better match than the Bears if PVL is insisting.

Unlike the Bears Newtown doesn't seem to harbour any delusions of re-joining the NRL as far as I can tell, and I imagine that they'd be much more reasonable to deal with as a result. They're probably only in it to cement their place in the NSW Cup for when it's turned completely into a reserve grade.

In saying that, majority ownership, control of the brand, and all home games remaining in Perth, should all be non-negotiables for Perth.

They should also give up on any hopes of universal reciprocal rights for the team when they play in Sydney. It's been attempted multiple times, the clubs involved have never been able to come to an equitable agreement, and I see no reason why that would be any different this case.

Perth just needs an east coast feeder club for pathways (or p g/nz). It doesn’t need to adopt a brand or share ownership with an east coast second tier club. With a possible restructure of second tier to a more nrl reserve grade it might be Newtown is just trying to secure any type of future.
Newtown doesn't want to be the next Mounties or Wyong Roos, and if the Sharks don't renew their feeder arrangement, the Jets are in a perilous situation, at least as far as 2nd tier (NSW Cup) status goes.

Sounds to me they want the bears, but don't want to bend over for it.... hence jets... which is bound to fail... the whole point of teaming up with the Nswrl brand for PVLs or the ARLCs ear, is to use the brand.... this is no better a bid than Melbourne storm announcing the bears are joint feeding us next season... except its worse coz at least Melbourne HAVE a licence

Yeh the Storm need a sydney brand to be successful, oh hang on…..
Reality is perth doesn’t need a sydney brand either, we just need a pathways club in nsw or qlnd.
im liking the sound of a newtown link up, in fact I probably mentioned it number of times in years gone by as a good feeder club partner for us.
west coast pirates with Newtown jets as feeder and maybe Ipswich jets as well. That I’m liking the sound of.

Melbourne is three times the size of Perth. Stronger bid

Of course you did :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
Cant be arsed to trawl back but I know I mentioned a number of non NRL clubs as possible feeder partners over the years and pretty sure Newtown was one. Not that it matters, it sounds like another piece in the WC Pirates bid jigsaw is being put in place and we should all be happy about that. Well those who want to see the game grow should.,
