Melbourne were propped up by News Ltd for more than 10 years after their inclusion into the NRL plus the Storm were gifted players from Super League teams folded for their inclusion; the Perth Reds and the Hunter Mariners. It’s double the money that was invested in the storm to make them a powerhouse and they have no juniors
Yeh but the cash was 100 millMelbourne were propped up by News Ltd for more than 10 years after their inclusion into the NRL plus the Storm were gifted players from Super League teams folded for their inclusion; the Perth Reds and the Hunter Mariners.
Haha, except the salary cap doesn’t work like that, the staff employed will be Australian, the costs for travel accomodation training facilities etc in cairns will be huge and the rest of their revenue generation will be minimal. Wasnt people talking about the nrl wanting a strong business case? Being a charity totally reliant on govt grants doesnt smack of that does it?Yeh but the cash was 100 mill
png are getting double
and we don’t know what the png govt is tipping in
200 million in png is the equivalent of 2 billion in Melbourne
whatever stadium they build will be sold out each week
Actually for the vast majority of its history China felt that the west had absolutely nothing to offer it that it couldn`t produce itself. It was the British who forced them to open up and trade with the rest of the world, better known as the Opium wars. The suggestion that Australian policy and funding in the South Pacific will subside if the China threat diminishes is laughable. This is China we are talking about ffs. Learn some history folks.

Travel and associated costs are paid by the nrlHaha, except the salary cap doesn’t work like that, the staff employed will be Australian, the costs for travel accomodation training facilities etc in cairns will be huge and the rest of their revenue generation will be minimal. Travel and associated costs are paid by the nrl
Which the nrl will look to recoup out of the govt payment, you can be sure of that.Travel and associated costs are paid by the nrl
Nrl will only cover perf travel costs nobody elsePerth red is clueless how NRL works
Dope. Difference is nrl will want a slice of the png grant to cover extra costs and lack of tv and sponsor revenue increase. They make no money out of adding png so will need to recoup some money to keep clubs happy. Not that png is going to happen anytime soon.Nrl will only cover perf travel costs nobody else
I can’t imagine China withdrawing into itself in the 21st century.Actually for the vast majority of its history China felt that the west had absolutely nothing to offer it that it couldn`t produce itself. It was the British who forced them to open up and trade with the rest of the world, better known as the Opium wars.
We shouldn`t discount that if things continue to go pear shaped with the Chinese economy and the U.S. lead disengagement with China gathers momentum we may see it retreat into itself again. Either that or regime change leading to values more aligned with the rest of the world and thus less of a threat.
So perf will have all their travel costs paid for but not pngDope. Difference is nrl will want a slice of the png grant to cover extra costs and lack of tv and sponsor revenue increase. Should we be supporting a country where homosexuality is still a criminal offence? Seems against nrls inclusivity and diversity policy.
That's a good point. The NRL wouldn't allow Israel Folau to play because he refused to follow the latest trend. It would be hypocritical for the ARLC to put a team in a country that criminalises the latest trend. If the PNG team is brought in then I hope Israel sues the ARLC for millions of dollars. The way he was treated is every bit as shameful and disgusting as the Vichy regime's stance towards rugby league.
..atleast supercilious was an apt description for ur posts..
