If we're going by TV ratings and revenue from football operations them Brisbane is screaming out for a third team. The Broncos and Dolphins are the two richest and best supported rugby league clubs in the world. Brisbane Tigers are loaded with money and assets.

Broadcasters will want another team from Brisbane because it will be a ratings winner.

Head of Strategy for WWOS, Simon Fordham is on record saying Ch9 want another team in Brisbane.
you are jumping the gun with the Dolphins, lets just wait a few more years... Titans got 20k in their first 2 seasons, would you have said back then they are one of the most supported clubs in the NRL?

Not sure you understand how the cap works. Nrl Clubs carry a 30 man first team roster. Beyond That a nsw or qlnd cup partnership club can carry non perth nrl rostered players, like bears are carrying Kurt Not souths.

theres nothing stopping a Perth nrl club giving 6 nrlwa clubs $100k say each to host a couple of 20-25 year old east coasters, kiwis or English lads in their squads and put themselves in the perth nrl clubs window.

Ahh yes. Adding 6 NSW/QLD Cup fringe guys to the local comp will improve the standard enough to rival those competitions

Why are Newtown now a better option than the Bears?
I don't know, but I also don't really understand some of the Bears fans arguments as to why Perth has no choice but to join with them. Why can't a Perth club just follow what the Storm have been doing? except Perth will have flegg and lower grade teams in place from the beginning. Wouldn't that be the logical set up for them? Pretty sure they could get some feeder arrangement with one if not 2 QLD/NSW cup sides. The Storm have the Bears and Falcons currently I think.

I’m really not sure what you’re saying here? I think you are misconstruing what cumins is saying.

A Perth team will run a nsw cup side out of perth (at least until reserve grade is reintroduced), players that are not in first grade or nsw cup side will play in nrlwa teams with the opportunity to continue to develop in a strengthened nrlwa premiership. Like I said last time we ran a national reserve grade side them had around another 50 or so contracted development players spread across WARL clubs.

I suspect they will also run flegg and sg ball out of perth then invest in having strong local systems under sg ball age group.

alongside that they will likely have a partnership or two with east coast nsw or qlnd cup clubs.

so where’s the risk in that?

reds financial challenges were due to last minute imposed extra travel costs, not due to the pathways model.

Nope it says.

'Play in the local comp'

Direct quote

Nothing about a Reserve grade playing in the East

And when the SG Ball comp finishes in May? Players on the East go off and play the other elite players in schoolboys comps.

The Perth players will do what?

Those kids will fall behind the rest

Even if the quote is wrong. Is running a Flegg, SG Ball and NSW Cup team sending them East every 2nd week on top of the Wages is going to be cheaper now?

Do the Storm have the same success IF they only rely on Victorians?

It would appear at this stage that the Jets don’t have as many dumb “non-negotiables” like a minimum of 2 home games in Sydney. If it’s strictly Jets branding but a wholly Perth owned club then I think it has more potential to succeed than a transplanted “North Sydney” Bears.

Yes but Bears are bringing their junior teams, So there is a higher cost to them for starters

Disagree

bears have juniors, a leagues club and will be able to get 10k members from the north shore

at a pinch Newtown might get decent member and nothing else

I see one of the biggest strengths of having the Bears as the Perth team is ability to retain the North Sydney District for the Perth side ongoing coupled with the junior development we expect to see in Perth and WA. It’s their district, I don’t see other clubs should get their hands on it by default.
I think if Norths are going to relocate to Perth, they need to do it 100% and commit to their new market. Not keep a foot in each camp.

As I said though I'm happy for there to be a 10 year transition period

The Melbourne Storm currently have three feeder teams, the Brisbane Tigers and the Sunshine Coast Falcons in the QLD Cup and the Bears in the NSW Cup.
I can’t say it without obviously sounding bias but I do believe the Bears are the better option for Perth, WA would struggle massively going it alone, look how long it took the Melbourne Storm to get established, all of those years plus the millions of dollars News Ltd spent propping the Storm up.
Don’t forget that the Storm had a gun roster and were successful from day one.
I think this is why the NRL are so cautious with adding WA as stand alone option.

Yes the all conquering norths juniors. They've produced no one in the last decade. Any success is due to them getting players from an NRL club as a feeder.

Then choose another team then. I have said many times

It doesn't matter who is choosen just someone who provides u17's, 19's and a team a 2nd tier comp.

That is what is needed on top of the local work the team wants to do.

Kaeo Weekes (Canberra Raiders) from the Asquith Magpies and Billy Pollard (same age group) also from the Asquith Magpies who plays for the ACT Brumbies.
Reminder the Bears have been out of the NRL since 1999, but plenty of current and past NRL players have come through their NSW Cup side to make their NRL debuts.
You’d be to dumb to acknowledge that though.

I think NSW Cup is the better comp to use. As there is no trips to Townsville, Mackay etc

But it needs be someone that has resources and existing pathways
