"The chairman of the Western Australian government working group responsible for the NRL bid, Peter Tinley, was in Sydney on Monday to meet with the sport’s key stakeholders. He met with NRL executives and Foxtel boss Patrick Delany to better position the Perth bid ahead of an NRL announcement that could be made as early as Wednesday."

Let's hope he also met with the channel 9 brisbane weatherman to get his approval...

Some snippets from the article:

[It is why the former Melbourne Storm and Gold Coast Titans halfback believes the NRL would “be mad” to not ensure Queensland’s western corridor was the focus of their expansion plans.

“We’re losing Ipswich, Toowoomba, Logan, south Brisbane,” Jacks said.]

[The Tigers’ bid includes a redeveloped Totally Workwear Stadium at Langlands Park in Brisbane, and building a 12,000-capacity stadium at an upgraded North Ipswich Sport and Entertainment Precinct.]

Another article that claims the ever expanding but still non-defined 'western corrider', this small cluster of towns and farming communities (plus toowoomba) is deserving of an nrl team all on its own but based in brisbane and owned by the 'east' tigers all because it is a strong rugby league area but simultaneously being taken over by the afl.

Make it make sense.

I am all for brisbane 3 being team 19 or 20 and more could be done to engage the rural areas to the west, but not having an nrl team won't cause the collapse of the game out there especially when there will never be an afl team there either.

Very suburban sydney logic.

As for the stadiums they will use; I don't see what could be done at langlands park or who would pay for it and why you would need it when suncorp is sitting right there.

As it is now is a perfect little 5k ground for nrlw.

Ipswich is currently getting upgraded to a nice boutique 12k stadium, again perfect for nrlw and nrl trials or the odd game bought off a sydney club like how the dogs are playing in bundaberg atm.

Last thing we want is another brisbane club playing in a ground that is too small and not fulltime at suncorp.

Don't be a dumb shit posting troll like Butthurtski and the other drunken braindead inbred two headed mutant from Tasmania.

If either of those freaks overdosed tomorrow then their crackhead mothers wouldn't give a f**k. Their mothers stopped caring for them when their Centrelink child assistance payments were cut off.

Simon Fordham isn't even a Queenslander. He's a New South Welshmen who has worked as a producer at Ch7 (1998-2001), senior producer at IMG MEDIA (2003-2006), senior producer for V8 Supercars (2006-2017) and Head of NRL/Strategy at Ch9 since 2017.

Suncorp can only hold so many events, The real disappointment with the Olympics is that Brisbane isn't getting a CommBank style rectangle ground.

There is only so much Suncorp can be used and it is used for many events outside of NRL
