I've been an advocate for three NZ teams for a long time. I agree that getting the second and third teams up to standard might take some time, but the potential benefits are enormous. Unlike PNG, we can draw more money from the NZ component of the broadcast rights with three teams.
You do realise that rugby union is like a religion in NZ and babies are given a All Black ball straight out of the womb.

What you said about being a lover scorned is exactly why I've lost a lot of interest in the NRL over the last decade. I used to force myself to attend games, despite having poor health that made it a burden. I eventually stopped putting myself through the hassle because the game doesn't care about Queenslanders.

Over the last 24 months I've gone from watching games from kick off to full time to just glancing at them while I play a game on my mobile. Some times I go work in the backyard or on my car instead of watching the football. I no longer have the passion to dedicate several hours a week to watching nothing but football because the game has ripped me off.

I'm sick of hearing how we must cater to selfish old Sydney fans and "potential" fans from fumbleball markets while dyed in the wool BRL fans like myself are told to "f**k off" because we're viewed as second class citizens by people in Redfern and western Sydney who have f**k all teeth. We're expected to prop up the game so that the mongrels running the tiny clubs in Sydney can pocket the money we generate. Whenever NSWRL fans talk about growing the game it's always at the expense of Brisbane. NSWRL fans never sacrifice anything for the greater good of the game, despite most of their clubs being poor as shit and having tiny fanbases that are almost worthless.

Look at the bastards on here who are ejaculating over the Bears attaching themselves to Perth so they can get in via the back door!

These mongrels have no shame and think the world revolves around them. To make it worse, they want Western Australians yo prop up their fantasy of bringing back the Bears.

The PNG bid deserves to be laughed at and mocked because it's f**ken stupid and an insult to the Aussie tax payer. There are hard working tax payers in Australia that are homeless. Giving their taxes to the NRL and PNG is the ultimate betrayal by an out of touch Labor party that doesn't care about the Aussie battler. The fact this PNG team will depend on the Aussie tax payer giving it $29m per annum proves it is not worthy of holding an NRL licence. If old dumb pricks from Sydney reckon it's such a great idea then they can send one of their small clubs to Port Moresby and fund it themselves.

Maybe Mr Albanese can send his beloved Elmer Fudds to Port Moresby?
I lost my team and after that went to 1000 nrl games

Keep thing 20th team maybe a Fiji based team
Depends on whether Albo wants to write another cheque.
Aust Govt contribute to the Fiji Super Rugby team now. They’ll want the same as that, or even same as PNG, for the NRL team. Just my guess.

PNG is a developing nation, with the requisite government corruption and social problems that come with rapid growth and exposure to western ideals and the flow of money. This will change over time.

The population of PNG is anywhere between 10M (official estimates) and 17M (estimates from UN satellite imagery in 2022, a study funded by Australia). Population growth is estimated at 11% per annum.

Flight time from Sydney to Port Moresby is approx. 4 hours (Perth is 5, Christchurch 3).

Rugby League is the national sport, and is part of the school curriculum.

$600M of government funding is blatant chequebook diplomacy. But in this case raises the level sophistication of such a deal above a new port or oil and gas project, as it has a direct impact on all citizens of PNG. The entire nation will get behind it.

Cynically, we know that at the front of Albanese's mind in all of this is the prospect of a Chinese navy dockyard approximately 800km from Cairns.

In terms of the logistical problems presented with the establishment of a team in Port Moresby, is this short-term thinking? In 20 years it could be a franchise to admire (and fear).

If you're an expansionist then why aren't you pushing for the three weakest Sydney clubs to permanently relocate to Perth, Port Moresby and Adelaide?

If the NRL did that they could introduce NZ2, Bris3 and NZ3 to round out a 20 team competition. We all know why you won't advocate for something like this. You're a greedy hypocrite who wants to limit Brisbane and New Zealand to just two teams each so Sydney can have nine.

Not only are you not making any sacrifices for expansion. You want a 10th Sydney club to steal Perth's licence so a few nostalgic old wankers from Sydney can get their team back.
Relocation is not expansion, you're way too dumb to understand that, as for the 9 Sydney teams, they ain't going anywhere, ever!!! start getting used to that, you want to a reduction in nsw teams, so we can fold like the RU are doing, or the lack of presence that A-league is, coz both sports were up there, before they restructured into state like teams instead of keeping the strong suburban teams in their comp like the randwicks, eastwoods, and Marconi clubs... your dumb idea to relocate an already established and licensed NRL club to a foreign city might work for only one club, not 3,and certainly not the weak ones, who wouldn't survive it anyways...
Also I'm all for more Brisbane or QLD teams, just not until licence 20 or 21, give the dolphins some air FFS

Why do you bother posting here?
If NRL is so boring and not to your taste, why are you so obsessed and opinionated here to bother, every post you make is a negative nancy one, as if the NRL stole your Logan Scorpions from you, don't fret, the QRL exists... there's a whole league full of qld teams to barrack for, and even a hunters team to hate.. go do that, focus all your efforts there, maybe you won't have health issues from being so angry on some random LU expansion threads, seems like you are just wasting your efforts convincing anyone here of your thoughts

Fiji is close enough to Samoa and Tonga to try that pacifika angle that the PM has been pushing, maybe he'll fund that aswell, good on him, nice to see funds going towards our game, rather than them investing in our rival flag chasing vickykicky

Relocation is not expansion, you're way too dumb to understand that

LMAO!

So why are you pushing for the North Sydney Bears to relocate to Perth you dumbarse?

Using your logic it's not expansion.

as for the 9 Sydney teams, they ain't going anywhere, ever!!!

I'm aware of the ARLC's refusal to rationalise Sydney. I was calling out your hypocrisy.

start getting used to that, you want to a reduction in nsw teams, so we can fold like the RU are doing, or the lack of presence that A-league is, coz both sports were up there, before they restructured into state like teams instead of keeping the strong suburban teams in their comp like the randwicks, eastwoods, and Marconi clubs...

I was calling out your hypocrisy. It's flown straight over your head. Just as I knew it would.

your dumb idea to relocate an already established and licensed NRL club to a foreign city might work for only one club, not 3,and certainly not the weak ones, who wouldn't survive it anyways...

It worked for two in AwFuL. South Melbourne and Fitzroy were the weakest clubs in the VFL.

How do you expect the North Sydney Bears to work when they were punted for being weaker than the three weakest clubs that exist today?

Also I'm all for more Brisbane or QLD teams, just not until licence 20 or 21, give the dolphins some air FFS

You don't want Brisbane as the 20fh team. You want PNG, Melbourne and NZ.
