Stimson shouldn't be there, Kerry hemsley was better than him!

The best Balmain side since 1980 would be able to beat the best of any other team.

Because David Fairleigh's one year was better than any of Mark Sargents. Sarge tried, he just wasn't real good, whereas Fairleigh carried our team in his single year.

For those of you who picked Fairleigh over Sargent because he apparently didn't perform for Newcastle - do yourself a favour and check who won the Rothman's Medal in 1989...
I for one rate Fairleigh over Sargent as a player overall, but comments like Sargent didn't play good for Newcastle are just ill founded and clearly based on not seeing the guy play.
Sargent was a very tough and strong prop who formed part of arguably the most feared forward pack to have taken to the field in the 89-92 period. It was a group of absolute hard heads who mashed opposition packs. At the International Sports Centre they were just dominant when they had that pack on the field - Sargent, Harragon, Stewart, Butterfield, Glanville, and I'm leaving out some players that dont come to mind right now.

Sorry I just got a little annoyed when i read Sargent basically didn't play well for Newcastle when nothing could be further from the truth

Mark Sargent also made the Roo tour of 1990...he couldnt have done that if he was playing poor for the knights that yr. (rothmans 1989 to add to that)
I think a few knights fans remember the "bad" yrs of the knights in 1994...and his limited action in 1995 which saw him go down with a severe injury vs the raiders in 1995.
