1st ASHES TEST: England v Australia at Cardiff, July 8-12, 2009

This test match is the one England are expected to win on a wicket favoured to them, 2 spinners, us no spinners, winning the toss etc...If they lose this test, we are looking good at Lords (where Clark is a must).

Potentially 2-0 up in the series and the poms are gonski :D

First things first. We just have to bat normally today if we can (ie. no KP type shots). Then try and bat a good part of tomorrow. We dont really want to bat on the last day, not chasing over 150 at least

Umm, may not have noticed but since Australia was last over in England, Lords has changed alot, its not the seaming pitch that saw 17 wickets fall in 1 day last time, there had not been a result at Lords since the 2005 Ashes but plenty of additions to the honours board, for batsmen anyway. The West Indies lost there this year in a very early season test, but 6 draws in between, may need the spinner

At one stage there had not been a result in London since the 1st test of the 2005 Ashes

Speaking of the Oval, Freddie was firing up the team last night reminding them that in Australias last test in England they were 1/260 or something, all out for 370

Someone remind these English commentators that there has been a test series between Australia and England since 2005..

if this isn't the biggest pop gun attack I've even seen, I'll walk naked across the SCG

I can see the poms being desperate enough to get Harmy in the next test match

well batted Pup and North, now its Haddin's turn to pile n the runs. I can see Notch putting in a little cameo before we declare as well

Why do you guys want to persist with trying to get Watson in the side instead of North ? He looked very good last night and didn't look like getting out. Clarke was also in vintage form until his dismissal.

I think you are meaning just Ponting the selectors and Locky, most people in Australia know what a broken down hack he is.......

Yeah sorry I meant the Australian side. But where does North bat in domestic cricket ? He has a solid defense and knows where his off stump is.

he's batted all over the place, even opens in ODIs
He looks like someone who could bat in any position effectively. Surely the selection team will leave him there and not bother with Watson anymore in the test arena.

What I found quite funny is the poms commentators kept mentioning how guys like Swann was awesome vs the WI

Bring back Ashley Giles

I think we need to persist with North at 6. He will have a failure here and there, but I think he is the best no6 we have atm. Especially if darts hauritz is in the side

Apparantly weather not looking good today :(
