Thats the difference though for me in Australia being favourites for this tournament. Warner and/or Finch will do the same job, but go on to a big total on a more frequent basis. Good innings, set up momentum, but thats the difference for him to become a world class ODI opener. He's still very good, but he's the next tier down because of that.

Finch and Mcullum both have 5 ODI tons to there name except Mcullum has played 200 more games so yes you're correct in saying Finch is better

TBH... I could care less what Warner and Finch do for Australia...

Our openers have a job to do to suit our own team... If that means they have to sacrifice individual status as an opener for the betterment of our team then so be it...

Williamson dropped again. Sri Lanka are pretty ordinary in the field. And Williamson still looks out of touch.

That's better.

If these two are still in at the 35 over mark, we're in good shape

This. If you think an opener getting 65 at a run rate in excess of 130 isn't doing his job you're f**king crazy, and doomed to disappointment.

If thats an average performance, of course its doing his job. Not denying that. My point is both openers were in, and then fell to ordinary pieces of batting. The two blokes after them are struggling. McCullum and Guptill took the game away from Sri Lanka, but they have a chance to restrict New Zealand now. The modes of dismissal were poor, McCullum tried to hit one over an outfielder, and Guptill one short of fifty tried to guide one to third man off a good ball. Am I happy that McCullum got New Zealand off to a very good start? Yes. Do I think he lets himself down by then not trying to bat through until deeper in the innings? Yes. With that way he bats he will naturally tick the ball over and still find enough gaps with his power to keep a high strike rate in between, hitting one down long off's throat is an unnecessary high risk.

No doubt, very good innings. Would like him to start carrying on with the job.

If these two are still here in 4-5 overs, I'd be telling Anderson and Ronchi to pad up.

Money money money money... some dude just has just won a motza off a Williamson six. He's looking good now. Nerves cleared. What a catch from that fellow.
