Few observations from the game so far:
1) Very surprised Ch9 signed up Kevin Pietersen, as like the folk at Ch10 such as Gilchrist and Ponting, Pietersen is very forthright in his views compared to most of the folk at Ch9, and doesn't kiss up like Slats/Healy/Brayshaw/Warne do.
2) I dunno who the hell has been spruiking Boland in the media since he took 7 wickets in a Shield game, but he has been absolutely bog ordinary. Doesn't have any venom or pace that has been widely written about him since that Shield match.
3) Are there any bowlers going around who can at least bowl 140+ km/h regularly besides Pat Cummins?
4) The fact that despite the heatwave in Perth over the past week we still have a bone flat pitch with 3 of the 4 boundaries being a miniscule 62-63m (out of the maximum 82m allowed) from the centre shows how much of a fall from grace the WACA has experienced. Still miss the WACA from 20 years ago, with the long unroped square boundaries - along with the straight boundary at the old Adelaide Oval - being the longest in the world on a fast, hard pitch.
