Who's this Paris Cartwright fella??

Looks like another project all-rounder that the Aussies have been obsessed about in recent years (something the Kiwi's have been guilty of for decades). Averages 26 with the bat and 40 odd with the ball.

Does have a first class average of 45 with the bat so he's not inept with the bat, but we'll probably find a way to make him look like a star if he gets a start.

He's a batsman who bowls a bit, I doubt even the selectors view him as an all rounder. And he's a very good batsman.

Not sure why he's in the ODI squad when his strength thus far has been longer form cricket, probably should have swapped him and Maddinson in the Test/ODI squads....but can't argue with giving younger talent a go

The lads on inside cricket were discussing do we pick Cummins in the Brisbane test if he pulls through and does well in these one dayers

Seems he's a bat that bowls a bit - it is interesting though, for such a shit cricket country we've had an astonishingly good bunch of all rounders - probably because the best kid in the team does both.

Just off the top of my head - JR Reid, Bruce Taylor, Richard Hadlee, Chris Cairns and Jake Oram were at various stages world-class all-rounders, Hadlee probably the poorest as nobody would say his batting alone was enough - then others such as Bracewell, Neesham, Anderson, Santner, Astle, De Grandhomme, even Coney were all bits and pieces

Australia had Miller and Benaud... then great fast bowlers like Lindwall and Davidson that were handy, and despite a desperate search in recent times have Watto, the Big Show and Levers - all of whom are good cricketers, but ultimately not really top level all-rounders

You are right we have struggled in the All rounder department the only ones you have missed would be Giffen, Noble and Gus Gilmour. Then we have had guys like the Waughs, Armsrong who were batsman who could bowl and smoking Mo Matthews.

Not a great list really.

You drunk?

The bloke hasn't played a FC game in 5 years...yep lets pick him in a test match...oh I can see this ending well...
How much bowling will he do in a day night test match??? Especially against Collapse A Stan??? He should of been playing a couple of shield games but no they rush him back for some meaningless one day games.

Cant wait for this. The blick ceps are just the the thing we need to get us back in form. Should be a repeat of the 2015 WC final in all 3 games the only difference being starc will have to find another flat track hero to get out out 2nd ball.

He doesn't play until he's bowled in back to back Shield games period. There is no rush.

lol, we wont have back to back shield games for a while, we gotta get past the big wank pretty soon

we got a round first week in December this week and the next round is in February 2017

this big want really does disrupt our test match preparations and if we have any injuries we got no 4 day form to pick any one

Steve Waugh was a very good bowler when he was struggling with the bat, then became a great bat.

Matthews is interesting, guess he could be considered a world-class all-rounder for a period, and Watson too - we're just harsh on him and he really should have stayed down at 5

Of course Gilchrist did the job of a great all-rounder anyway, allowed you to have 4 specialist bowlers who couldn't really bat (although no doubt Warne would talk himself up) and people like the Waughs ,Blewett etc to bowl a few overs when needed

Kind of a bit meh about this odi series TBH, we're ranked 1 and 2, or 1 and 3, but both teams look pretty mediocre - I guess as much will depend on the flat track heroes (Guptill, Finch, Maxwell, MMarsh, Munro and de Grondhomme) as the quality (Starc, Hazelwood, Smith, WIlliamson, Boult, Southee).

It's great to see Australia play one of the minnows, before the Pakistan Test series.

Its good for the game giving the little blokes a moment in the sun.

Yeah yeah - big talk given the pounding the Jaapies just gave you - nice to see winning dead rubbers is a confidence booster...

Worst captains knock in the history of cricket. The prick is a disgrace
