Agree. They held the middle order together. Rog was a really good ODI bat. I think Australia misses Bevan and Hussey for similar reasons, brilliant at getting teams to competitive totals often when its just not on.

Duuno, think the World Cup has coloured perceptions of the Hairy Javelin to be honest. And Harris is imo the most overrated ODI cricketer in NZ history.

Twose underrated, fine player in the top order.

We'll miss Taylor, assuming the test was a sign he was back - hilarious that he alterered his stance and back lift and then suddenly looks a million dollars!

We'll scrap, but too much on Williamson imo - Australia can really focus on him, as they did in the test series at home - Chappell can start talking baseball and say there's no protection for him lol

Agree with that. However, Elliott does average 40 against Australia (11 matches) and 58 playing in Australia (6 matches). I think overall you're right, but think we'll still miss him in this particular series.

I do rate Munro though and hope he has a great series. Would love to see him get going.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong would have Elliott for any of Nicholls, de Grondhomme or Munro in a heartbeat

I howled at Elliott's inclusion in the world cup scheme and the bastard really proved me wrong. Watling can probably play his role with the bat.

Roger Twose was average, barring a very good 99 world cup, he scored a bucket of runs against Zimbabwe. Worth having around as we never had much quality in depth. No better or worse than Elliott batting wise, the latter is also pretty handy with the ball. Both guys imo had career lengths aligned with their ability.

Harris our most overrated ODI cricketer is interesting, his numbers are abysmal but there's a mountain of work over 15 years with lots of tight bowling (not always rewarded with wickets) and energetic field + that 1996 World Cup innings (his only ton) was out of this world. Neither Elliott or Twose contributed as wholly as that.

Roger Twose averaged 39. Significantly better in ODIs than Fleming, Astle, McMillan. At the time he finished only Glenn Turner would have had a better average.

We will punish you for publicly shaming Wade by publicly shaming you...the modus operandi of the 2016 Australian cricket team.

I see Mitchell Johnson has publically supported Maxwell's comments - thank god theirs someone sane out there making comment - a batsman says he's disappointed to be batting below the keeper/captain - seems honest enough, Maxwell doesn't seem to have many friends, is he a douche, because from the outside it looks like Wade is the douche here

Jesus Christ....this whole thing is a joke tbh. They're both dicks but honestly, Matt Wade is the Victorian captain. Therefore he sets the Victorian batting order based on his views on the players and the game. That's the end of the discussion tbh as far as I'm concerned and Maxwell should shut the f**k up and play cricket.
