If Green plays I’d have money on Wade opening. There’s absolutely no way you can play Burns, he shouldn’t even be in the squad. Confidence is shot.

I'm expecting Burns to play and open with Wade. Keeps the RH/LH and it's not as if Harris is much chop anyway

Maybe not but it's the principle...

We've finally found a 3...how about we not move him!

Yeah because Steve Smith was so horrible there lol.

Come on, hiney - acknowledge locky's expertise - clearly Marnus is good at 3, and would be horrible anywhere else... clearly Smith is great at 4, and would be average anywhere else... and clearly, these rules only apply to mortals, both locky and Langer are clear that Wadey can bat anywhere

Is Locky really Langer??? That would explain a few things actually

Smith is better at 4, in fact it’s not close. Why rob Peter to pay Paul so to speak. Thankfully the coach agrees Lab won’t be moving. He’s at 3 and Smith at 4.

Wade and Burns to open?

Dear oh dear

Both fail, then you get Will and Warner to replace them both 2nd test? Especially if we lose the first test

Australia lean towards Joe Burns' continuity, Matthew Wade firms to open

Australia are leaning towards the retention of Joe Burns and the promotion of Matthew Wade to open alongside him in place of the injured David Warner, while Cameron Green is all but assured of a Test debut in the traditional allrounder's spot at No. 6 in the batting order.

This much could be gleaned from the words of Australia's captain Tim Paine on the morning of match eve, even if the team's diktat is to keep the identity of the final XI "in-house" until the toss of the coin at Adelaide Oval on Thursday afternoon.

Paine placed a heavy emphasis on continuity in the side, a tick for Burns in the absence of Warner, and was hopeful that the interrupted preparation of Steven Smith, missing Tuesday's main session with an apparent back complaint, would actually serve to freshen the No. 4 batsman's mind ahead of his first Test match meeting with India since 2017.

"Dave won't be there but we expect Steve to be there," Paine said. "Steve's had a stiff back a number of times before and you do when you bat at training as much as he does. But his preparation has been very good, he's batted for the last week since we've been in Adelaide, so for him to have a day off might actually be a blessing in disguise yesterday.

Never underestimate the stupidity of our selectors. Burns is a walking wicket atm and Wadey lol. He got runs in the 20/20 opening against the same team!!! FMD.

Locky logic.

With his Test career hanging by a thread, Burns walked into the nets for his final audition. Australian coach Justin Langer placed himself in the umpire’s position, eagerly watching on.

The net bowler’s first delivery was full and on the pads, and Burns flicked it cautiously towards square leg.

But the shot prompted Langer to storm down the pitch, immediately offering the batsman some words of advice.

Should have grabbed his helmet grill ala Andy Flower.
